are a very nice trio of sophomores for Howland. I'm pretty excited about basketball. I think we'd be 5-0 right now if Molinar was available first two games. He's a big difference maker for our starting lineup. Knock on wood but for the first time that I can remember in a long time there doesn't seem to be any cancers on this team. Some of y'all say Howland is washed up but I don't buy that if he's assembled a cancer free roster with 3 talented sophomores in the starting lineup. I doubt he's done that since his early UCLA late Pitt days.

Johnson could be a nice player-he has already scored 1000 points. I like the 7 foot Euro--he doesn't hurt you and has some skills. Davis could be good if He would just get under control and learn how to finish.

Dayton will tell me a lot. Always a tough opponent. Molinar is obviously a difference maker.

North Texas and Texas State. North Texas won CUSA last year so they are a decent program.

It looks like they only lost 1 player from last years team.

I agree. T&L show quoted Howland as saying Molinar took as big of a step between his freshman and sophomore season as anyone he could remember. He looks like a guy who is easily going to average 12 - 15 ppg.

If we could have split those first two, I think people would be excited about this team. Although Saturday morning is a big test.

I know we are young but things that concern me

Assist to turnover ratio is 0.9! We are only shooting 60% from the FT line. We are averaging just under 67 points per game. After watching the Jackson State game I was disappointed with our defensive effort other than Ado. We had spurts of good defense but the continuous effort wasn't there. I'm hoping our ball handling improves now that Monlinar is back.

The assist to TO ratio is a constant. It was sub 1 last year and it was 1.07 when we were a 5 seed

I’m still not sold on this team. When I watch them I don’t see a lot of skill on the court.

Plenty of size and athleticism but very little in the way of basketball IQ. Most shooting forms look really rigid and not smooth so I don’t see us winning many games with outside shooting and I think hitting 75% on ft in most games is going to be difficult.

We are going to have to win the paint and then get just enough outside shooting from Molinar, Stewart and Johnson

So far, Tolu is putting up respectable numbers compared to Perry last year. He's somewhat quietly doing so.
Perry '19-'20: 17.4 ppg 10.1 rpg
Tolu (5 games) '20-'21: 15 ppg 8.4 rpg

Those stats are slanted in Tolu's favor

We haven't played anyone of consequence yet. Perry's stats are after SEC season of basketball. Not trying to discount Tolu but pointing out the disparity.

I prefer to see that number >1. Teams that have a lot of assists understand the fundamentals of the game on offense. Liberty this season is 1.58 and we know how we did against them. I like to call this my "street ball" gauge for college basketball teams. Typically, teams that play a lot of mano-a-mano have very few assistants and a lot of turnovers. I really enjoy games where the players move the ball around quickly and find the open shooter to score. Sadly, TSUN is at 1.75 this season.

1st 5 games of season for Perry last yr had him at 13.8ppg 9.8rpg mark.

That takes any SEC games out of the mix
