What is the deal with him and Minnesota? Seems like one of the biggest losses in recruiting to lose him out of state and not to a powerhouse program but to Minnesota of all people.

Seems like we had a couple of signees a year or two ago that were Minnesota commits and flipped to us. Just seems odd to be competing with them for DB’s.

I think they have a coach on staff with Mississippi connections.

Their CB coach used to be Defensive Coordinator at Arkansas and Ohio State.

They also recruit the south pretty heavily it looks like. There are a few folks from Georgia on their roster.

Fleck is a good recruiter but surely the recruits understand that he likely won't be at Minnesota much longer?

With college athletics becoming more and more like free agency thanks to portals and such, that may be less of a concern now.

I keep expecting him to come to his senses and flip but I'm afraid he is gonna wait around and his spot is gonna get filled. This staff doesn't seem to play around too much with fence straddlers. CJ will be a fine replacement. Better yet Jadarius Perkins.

From the people that I know that know him, he does not want to play on the same team as his brother. It was going to be either Minnesota or Ole Miss.

To me the portal doesn't really mean much unless the one-year sit-out rule is changed. And honestly, I hope it doesn't change. Sitting out a year is a reasonable penalty for transfer......but being restricted in where you go is not. So, the portal should have been there years ago.

Plus, it gives incentive for football players to stay in line and graduate, whether that's four years or early in three.

This is what I figure, too. Dude just wants to do his own thing. I understand that sentiment.

There’s another -adarrius Perkins? Seems like we have to sign him purely based on principle.

Evidently he hasn’t been to Minnesota January - March.

I have and believe me it sucks ... I flew into Minneapolis towards the end of March several years ago and listening to the radio they were bragging that they had 3 days that month that were above freezing and were predicting an early spring .... I don't really have any interest in going back - not even to fish. The old cliché about Southern Hospitality rings true when you return from up there

Why should there be a penalty for transferring?

First, to ensure the athletes consider the academic ramifications of their decisions. Secondly, to keep programs somewhat stable and prevent a wild wild west of constant poaching and cutting scholarships.

We already have an NFL. I don't see a reason to create another version of that. The NCAA does not FORCE people to go to college and play football, that's a false narrative. It's actually the opposite - they provide an opportunity. It's the NFL that actually creates this situation - they should be willing to accept younger draftees/signees or create their own feeder league.

They must have played rough growing up then....to not want to play against him daily in practice or in a game hence not going Ole Miss.

Only halfway joking...I have 3 cousins 1-3 years older than me and they were rough growing up. Hated each other and still do, unless somebody messes with one of them.

Honestly don’t think they could count the number of bb/pellets had to be dug out from under the skin or how many times one of them got knocked out trampoline boxing.

I work around his dad. Been wanting to ask him what’s up with it but nope none of my business. Would’ve loved to see him in a bulldog uniform though.

We slow played him to start with and didn't make him a priority. He's a nice player but he's not as good as his brother. We sign Perkins, and we'll be fine.

I think you mean January through MAY. I have been to Chicago in mid-April when snow was still on the ground, like a decent amount. And that’s not even Minnesota.

Perkins grades out to be a better prospect so honestly its a plus if it works out right. Plus Covington from Texas is warm also. But Perkins is JUCO and should be ready to contribute day one

Went to Minnesota in feb (maybe Jan) of ‘13 for a conference during a blizzard. Holy ****. 17ing awful. It was in the negatives at night and we’d walk about 1/4 mile to the closest bar. Didn’t know Toby Keith had a chain of bars until then.

on my trip I was on the last flight out of there that night ... The pilot announced that they closed the airport immediately after we took off ... we were de-iced 2 times at the gate and once again as we were about to turn onto the taxi-way
