Why are the bench chairs separated like they are? What is the logic there?

It’s to limit exposure in case someone has been unknowingly exposed and still tests negative. It’s a belt and suspenders thing.

So that way it looks good for the people in the media that would go after them. It is dumb. They practice together and share a locker room but then have to be spaced out on the bench

Why are the coaches wearing masks of they get tested everyday? It's all optics. Horseshit

I have 0 issue with people not playing in the game wearing masks.
There is no downside.

Even if someone is tested daily, there is a period of time when they can infect others before they are tested again. Coaches yell and spit a lot.

When 1 person testing positive can shut a program down for a week or two, I think it's worth wearing a mask if you aren't in the game.

I'm not too convinced the sitting far apart thing really does anything. Seems like optics.

The team scrimmages, travels together, share lockerooms, showers etc. Them sitting spaced out on the bench is pointless.

Nobody said it didn’t, but they beat and bang on each other a cpl hours everyday at practice. Does this virus get more contagious when you’re sitting in your warm-ups?

It's less time in space. It actually does matter.

It's less time in space. It actually DOES matter, even if it's not much. The optics matter FOR SURE. Y'all need to throw out emotion in this stuff.

They practice, eat, share rooms, & play together. An few minutes of six ft spacing is stupid as hell.

It's still less time in space. That is undeniable.

Negligible at best. It's stupid as hell. Their teammate has Covid. You think they haven't been exposed already? It's all ridiculous. Just like the 14 day quarantine ********.

Symptoms show up between 3 and 14 days after exposure. Given that, why is a 14 day quarantine '********'?

For the record, my kids are having to quarantine right now because I have it. It totally sucks for them and I would love to let them get back to their sports and activities, if I could.

CDC Likely To Recommend Shortening Coronavirus Quarantine Period

"Right now, contact tracing efforts in the U.S. are severely hindered by deep disincentives for contacts of cases to quarantine," Nuzzo said. "A seven or ten day quarantine recommendation may be easier for people to bear and hopefully may help get more contacts of cases to comply."

So since not enough Americans are willing to follow actual health guidelines, the guidelines will be relaxed in the hope that more people follow them.

Seems like another example of the dumbing down of society.

To be clear, 7 days of quarantine followed by a virus test seems quite reasonable to me. If actual evidence shows thats enough then cool let's change it.

I have zero emotion about this. It’s an overabundance of caution thats over the top.

I agree that these kids spend enough time in close proximity to each other that sitting apart during the game is meaningless. But even if you only do it for optics, masks are to be worn when you are not able to social distance, you do not need to wear them when you are distanced from everyone.

This makes as much sense to me as seeing people drive down the interstate in a car by themselves wearing a mask.

14 days without test. 10 days with a test.

Interesting. I have not seen this from the CDC.
All I've seen is 14 days for self quarantine if exposed to someone with covid.
Ive seen that if you have covid, its recommended that you isolate for 10 days after the test. But that 10 day time is for those who have covid.

I'll have to read up and search for the CDC recommending 10 days of quarantine for those exposed to covid.

I’m guess I’m just tired of even hearing the word “COVID”. Both from the “this is stupid” and the “we’re all gonna die” sides. It won’t happen, but I wish that all COVID threads would be deleted.

How did the bench chairs being separated actually impact anyone that posted in this thread? Why do you care? Why is there a thread about it?
