Getting drafted has to be awesome, but I think it would be a little disappointing to be headed to the bright lights of Memphis Tennessee.

It is a good team to land at. He has a good PG and this is a position of need for Memphis. He’ll get opportunities to play this year.

Nevermind. He is getting traded to the Kings where they have no need for shooting guards. They also have a good PG, but not as many chances to get on the court. Not a great situation unless Sacramento makes room in front of him.

Found this in his ESPN profile and just thought I would leave it here:

Scored only 13.8 points per 40 minutes. Played out of position on a slow-paced team with very little passing or shooting, which hampered his production.

It sounds like Woodard got bad advice... supposedly he was definitely going to be drafted in 1st round with guaranteed money.

Or a bad night. For Ben Howland anyway....

Good night for MSU basketball.

Having two players drafted in the 1st or 2nd round and could'nt finish higher than 4th in the SEC or win a single NCAA tournament game with them is some serious underachievement. Frankly embarassing underachievement and makes me seriously doubt if Ben can ever do any better than that.

Sounds like 1982 Big East Team.

Yeah, as recently as late last week he mentioned that his agents were telling him he’d go anywhere from 20-40 which I guess technically wasn’t wrong. However, when he then said that he hadn’t really been talking to any particular teams more than others, it was clear to me that no one had given him a 1st round guarantee.

That said, being a 2nd round pick isn’t the death sentence that it used to be. Their contracts can be highly valuable when you find a decent player, and there are a ton more roster spots to fill now that the G league has turned into a legit development league. He and Perry won’t be on any NBA opening day rosters if I had to guess, but they’ll get opportunities to get there

Depends on your perspective. Columbus, MS is now a mini version of Memphis in most ways. Should feel just like home but more to do for him.

Also Memphis is a huge basketball town. He will be a celebrity over night.

No doubt. Who would want to go make millions playing with two young stars in JJJ and Ja?

Last Grizzlies game I went to, dude was walking the parking lot asking for parking fees because the kiosks weren't working. He even had parking passes in hand.

The kiosk were working just fine.

Never have that issue when I park in the FedexForum parking garage

This happened at the open lot at 3rd and MLK. Just PSA for folks that want to park elsewhere. Be careful.

Either one or both of those lots are being developed, so I don’t think you can even park there anymore. Regardless you should never give anyone parking money with all the automated parking machines nowadays.

That has to be something positive for state hoops. At least some guys coming out of Howlands program are already getting legit shots at the NBA

Aric Holman, Q, Lamar Peters, Woodard, Perry- all have/had legit shots so far. Its been cool to fun to keep up.
