You should really stop reading all that Q anon stuff. It's warped your mind.

Oh and wear a mask.

I don't know what Q anon is, but it's amazing that as much whining as you do about how hard it is for employees and how mistreated they are and abused by employers they are, and whatever the conspiracy theory of the day regarding rich people you are on, that you don't want to acknowledge that politically connected people have a do as I preach, not as I do attitude and why that might negatively impact people's willingness to follow their directions.

you. Because you consistently have said "it's a personal responsibility" on whether to wear a mask or not. Showing your level of care for others.

That's fine. You do you.
Your problem is your attitude. You are incorrect about pretty much everything, including if I wear a mask. Even if you weren't, you don't understand that you have zero ability to influence anyone else until you change that attitude.

Go back and read lee’s post. Tell me he does think exactly like what I posted. He used an example of his brother and sister in-law getting covid despite working in a place that requires a mask. I can about guarantee that lee thinks positive cases = masks don’t work. Never mind that no one said mask are going to prevent you from from getting covid. It’s going to prevent covid from being spread by you.
I can tell by two sentences that you aren't thinking for yourself. See the bold above. Who told you that? If you were thinking for yourself, you'd realize that a mask (or any physical barrier) will indeed help prevent you from getting COVID, as well as help you prevent spreading it.

I guess some folks need these 'experts' to tell them exactly what to do in order to effectively do this.

Some of the highest spikes in positive cases are in states with mask mandates. Either the masks are not helping, or enough people are violating the mandate by not wearing them.

And they will continue to do so as hospitals go over capacity.

These threads are filled with the same 4 or 5 people emotionally thrashing and kicking each and every time.
drebin/lee/boss/cramden/wheeler/whatever name GOAT is currently using.

Not sure if that is recognized by everyone. Its a small handful out of everyone who actively posts.

I encourage skepticism and questioning of things, but even I cant stop rolling my eyes at this point.

Time to ignore these folks. They don't care about anyone but themselves.

Queue the SJW label. Don't care...you can get 17ed too.

I think it's obviously the second. People are sick of the **** and they don't fear it, i.e. they'll risk getting it just to live a normal life. Selfish or not, that's what's happening.

You just can't keep people cooped up. The lockdowns DIRECTLY led to many of the violent uprisings all summer long. A lot of pent up energy. It shows how ignorant the experts are that they keeping trying to enact these futile efforts.

I think what he means is regardless of what people *should* do, the reality is that people simply won't, for whatever reason. In that case, the vulnerable need to consider that people will be selfish no matter what and they need to be responsible for their own safety. No matter how ****** you think that is, human nature lends itself to selfishness. We all are to a degree. You, me, everybody. Reality is that life, in all aspects, will be harder on the vulnerable. Whether that's right or wrong is inconsequential. It just is.

Explain how, if i'm vulnerable, I can stay responsible for myself, if some ******* refuses to wear a mask.

And how "it's not that *******'s fault" if he is spreading covid while maskless.
You avoid said *******.

Contrary to your beliefs, there are very few, if any, ******** out there running you down and breathing on you. You can essentially avoid 100% of them by doing basic **** that I do, and most everybody else does, everyday. Staying 6' apart is very easy.

How christian of you.

And Jesus sayeth, "17 em!"
I'm fairly certain Jesus expects a healthy amount of self-responsibility. And these 'vulnerable' people are not exactly being mistreated. Vulnerable is definitely a relative term in 2020.

I'd love a better word but don't know what it is. They aren't the ruling class. The political class is close and might be better, but it's also a lot of people that aren't very political but pretending that they're elite lets them make up for what they view as shortfalls in their life. Lots of people who have jobs that are plenty good enough, but that are still higher in status than pay, such as professors, journalists, government employees, lots of lawyers, etc that also puts them around a lot of people that make multiples of what they do, often while engaged in work that they view as inferior in status. That just creates this weird dynamic where the same people complaining about the rich and how they really rule the country are also making themselves feel better by pretending they are part of the ruling class, or at least on the same footing as far as status.

Do you wear a mask or nah?

It's not really about freedom. It's about status. Our "elites" like to impose rules they don't follow. Your grandad gets to die alone with no funeral. THe politically connected have massive funerals. You stay home while "elites" gather in large numbers in the street. Same as the lectures about climate change before getting on a private plane, or if they are a poor "elite", then their 30th commercial flight of the year.

Even though the masks aren't on the same level, they get lumped in, with support from things like news media lecturing about masks and then immediately taking them off and keeping them off when the camera is off.

IT's a negative consequence of having a political class and "elites" that is largely more concerned about signaling that they are part of the favored class than almost anything else. Everything starts to be seen in those terms by people who are tired of being openly considered and treated as second class citizens.

Life isn't fair. Doesn't excuse you from acting like a dumbass if you are on a mask protest for what you typed out here.

I'll say it - life is going to be harder for the vulnerable. That's reality. It may or may not be their own fault that they are vulnerable, but I know with 100% certainty that it's no one else's fault. You are responsible for yourself.

I know, wow just wow, right?

My daughter was born vulnerable and I live every day terrified that she will catch COVID and not make it. So next time when you think about writing something like this, don’t.

Empathy for what, exactly? Their failure to protect themselves? Their failure to maintain their health? Their failure to socially distance themselves and wear their own masks (which makes transmission chances nearly zero?

How will she catch it from me if we are 6' apart and have masks on? And aren't you a doctor, or claim to work in a hospital where you never contracted it?

And what exactly is wrong with my post? Is it somehow not true?

I mean, to answer your question, yeah that's exactly what Jesus said do. I'm sorry if that doesn't fit your view of how the world should work. Take it up with him.

That you think my grandfather developing leukemia is due to his moral failings tells me all I need to know about you.

There are 5 people in my Brother in Laws house..after he was diagnosed with the virus, all 5 stayed in the house together for 14 days, shared same common areas, no mask, no social distancing inside the house, etc...two of them caught the virus, him and his daughter.... his wife didn’t catch the virus and both slept in same bed. She doesn’t even have the antibodies.

It’s not your fault. Sometimes dogs chase cars and they can’t help it. It’s not your fault because you drove by, it is their parents for not raising them right.

Did you make a 24 on the reading comprehension section of your ACT or nah? Nothing I said had any relation to me wearing a mask. The question was asked why people view it as a threat to their freedom and liberty, and I pointed out it wasn't really about freedom but their frustration at being treated like inferior citizens by a bunch of mediocrities. I even pointed out that the masks weren't really the same but get lumped in with the other more ridiculous positions that are mainly about status and status signaling.

Have you ever noticed how much overlap there is between the "I aint wearing no mask cause freedom!" and the "Barack was born in Kenya" crowds?

Better question....how am I NOT showing empathy? What else should I do?

What exactly should I do to help your father?

You called me gross in the other thread chain, so I'm guessing you're nearing your emotional breaking point, thus I doubt I get the answer to this question.

My home town has been pretty consistent wearing masks, in my experience. So much so, that I had gotten used to seeing everyone in and around buildings wearing masks. We went to Starkville last weekend, and I was surprised to see that wasn’t the case. Seeing relatives and friends from other towns, it sounds like people are getting pretty lax with wearing them.

This is a bit surprising since the Mayor has been adamant about it. We were in Restaurant Tyler after the game and SPD came in and checked the place over and asked the staff if they were enforcing the mandate. I am one that doesn't believe the mask impacts the virus, the statistics I have seen just don't support it, but I can tell you that I wear one for that one person it might help either from transmission or ease their worries. I think part of the resistance movement comes from how the press condemns some events, while dismissing others as non health concerns.

Because you see the vulnerable as people who are moral failures. It's pretty gross.

That's about as far reaching of a take on his post as you can get. Nothing he said was false, insensitive , disrespectful, etc....and nowhere implied anything about "moral failures". Quit making up **** to be upset about

I don't think it's obviously the second. Masks should reduce the spread compared to no masks, but they're not just going to stop the virus from taking off. If they did, we'd presumably be willing to do it for the flu. They should hopefully reduce initial viral loads and result in milder cases as they spread. I don't know if anybody has really tried to measure that. I am guessing that's pretty hard to measure.

AMEN. We have but 1 life to live. Don't make your time on this earth miserable. The establishment wants you to be a submissive *****, at home and in a mask, while they go about their lives carelessly.

CELEBRATE THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS WITH MORE ZEAL AND ENTHUSIASM THAN YOU EVER HAVE!!!

That said....I do wear a mask at work and when I enter a public building.

After all this time you really don't have a clue about how this spreads do you? Read the link below. It has pictures s you don't even have to read that much.

Maybe she, or one of her caretakers walks into a place that has poor ventilation.

Maybe some ******* thinks wearing a mask and staying 6 ft away is all he has to do to keep her safe from him.
