The last two posts of that thread tells you exactly where it was going to go. It sucks really good posts about this are going to get ruined by a couple of idiots that can’t help it.

Maybe delete the inflammatory posts. There not many good platforms to have decent political discussions, and this is a big moment in our country’s future. Would be nice to have some civil back and forth.

Yes it would. It won’t happen. It would be like putting a bunch of state and rebel fans in a room to discuss if they broke Fitz’s leg on purpose.

I think DS has always had a hard line against deleting posts unless it’s something truly awful.

I just saw that thread was locked. Sucks. I get that my comment was quoted in the last post before being locked, but i really didnt think my comment was controversial. Most any comments these days are open to be spun for a response though.

When so many posters buy into conspiracies and parrot currently baseless claims, threads wont stay open long. I was really impressed to see how long a couple of PUSA threads stayed open on Tuesday/Wednesday. That was neat.

At least we have a game against Vandy to look forward to this weekend.***

It is especially hard to have civil discourse with this format or anything that is online an anonymous. Not only is it difficult to do it might be the absolute least effective method to persuade someone to change their view. It maybe only effective in confirmation bias. In other words strengthening beliefs that you already have.

If I were a mod, I wouldn't have time to police and delete individual posts. Best I could do is lock it when it turns to crap.

First of all, after football started there weren’t supposed to be political threads. Since it was election week, they were allowed to slide with a short leash.

Lol, I like that “first of all”. Sounds like my wife.

And that was my question, that last thread got locked with no leash, considering it’s election week.

It would nice but no way it remains just a discussion. Arguments start, calling trump or Biden names, making fun of them or calling the poster a derogatory name because of his or her belief. I remember a poster calling Harris a ***** because of an affair she had. Even when new posts where about COVID it went bad. To many different opinions wouldn’t remain just a discussion.
