Sure. And we can can do NZ and Australia too. Their numbers are much better as well.

But I don’t believe the populous in the USA would tolerate (if it is even legal) what is going on in those places.

I’ll take any vacation right now. I’ve had two cruises canceled and my next is looking more doubtful everyday

Possibly. I think early testing and isolating was the key for S. Korea. We missed that boat. Though it could have been tried again in August.

But we would have killed 5 times more than we did if we went the Sweden route. The Swedish are much more responsible and a hell of a lot healthier than Americans.

Below is not directed to you Ron. You have been rational the whole time.

This winter is going to be rough for a lot of communities. It's starting to get bad again in many places. The election is over. None of us should politicize this now. Our immune systems are weaker and viruses spread much easier as the weather cools off. It's a bad combination for this virus. Be smart for the next few months until a vaccine is out.

So do you think it would’ve been better to bite the bullet and get this over with during the warmer summer months? I do.

Thanks Joe Lee. I don’t disagree with the healthy part, maybe not so much about the responsible part, especially if you consider masking part of the equation.

I think from all of this we now know that temporary lockdowns don’t work long term. Population adjusted, (raw numbers as well) the EU is blowing us away in cases. Most had harder, longer (that is what she said) lockdowns plus contact tracing and Germany just admitted it is basically over for them as they can’t figure out 75% of the cases.

For me, it is about where it ends up without a vaccine and what we are willing to give up until then? It is a delicate balance. It isn’t really over anywhere and are we willing to go years doing what SK is? I am still of the mind that there should be as few of restrictions as possible up until the health care system is stressed.

But hey, that is just me. But you know what they say about opinions?

What exactly could we have done(bite the bullet) in the summer months to get this over with.

We’re all going to be exposed to it. Don’t try and hide from it and then catch it once seasonal flu and other sickness are at their peaks during the winter.

I agree with the bite the bullet approach. Spread it as fast and as far as possible. Isolate the over 70 crowd maybe and get it done.

Not spend so much effort, money, and maybe most importantly, will power (or public willingness or whatever you want to call it) on trying to defer cases until the winter when we are less equipped to deal with them both because our immune systems are not as strong and because of other seasonal viruses like the flu.

Given how low the mortality was, it seems it would have been smarter to let people live their life and then lock down when we got in the heart of flu season. There's something to be said for kicking the can down the road because sometimes you get unexpected upside surprises, but I'm not clear what people thought might happen other than us find out that the threshold for herd immunity was much lower, in which case you would just get the good news sooner.

I genuinely cant even comprehend how this approach would have played out. Covid isnt like chicken pox back in the day where parents would have their kids sleep over at an infected kid's house so that 'we can all just get this over with'.

I have seen multiple interviews that have declared herd immunity doesnt work that quickly and it would have just overwhelmed our healthcare system. I have not seen any interviews or reports that claim we should have all just swapped spit to get it over with. Where are these doctors/virologists/epidemiologists and what sort of info are they working with that shows we could have all just gotten it over with and called it a day?

Raiderdawg needs to chime in qucikly. Someone light the signal torch!
