Leach's play calling

where y'all at with this? I see a lot of justified hate towards Costello and I'm not excusing that because his decision making and execution has been dogshit but to me just as equally as bad has been Leach's play calling. There's a whole lot of offensive football coaches that would donate half their salary to be able to face an 8 man zone every week.

Im firmly in the camp that Leach knows more about the offense that he is credited with creating than you do.

I would certainly second that statement. Pretty sure its up to the QB to pick where to throw the ball out of the 4 or 5 routes being ran. But the blame can be spread to the recievers and the line also. Sad that one poster constantly attacks the coach tho. Makes me think there is an agenda here

I'll just say

any team in this league that can not line up and play smash mouth football on ocassion, is destined

to failure or mediocrity.

I'll stand by that!

Prove me wrong, ...Please do!

So far, it sucks. People keep posting about what Leach has done at TT & WSU, but he’s never done what he’s done in the last 3 games at either school. The SEC is a different game.

His first season at Washington State looked just about identical. He won 3 games and beat an FCS school by 4 points. The only difference is he doesn’t have non conference games to pad stats this year.

He took over a train wreck at WSU. And he was never as inept offensively as he’s been the last 3 games that season, or any other.

Obviously but may I make a suggestion that the book writing play calling genius Mike Leach limit the decision making for the time being for the player struggling the most with decision making. It's almost impossible to throw an interception when you hand the ball to the RB.

Mumme ,

Quit or fired after 4 seasons (20-26)to go to Southeaster LA.

Yes, it was exciting, at 10-22 in SEC play.

I mean that's a snazzy quote and all but success is found in winning the football game not making sure you keep using the same 5 Air Raid plays against an 8 man zone till they eventually work. Here's a spoiler though, they won't work vs SEC defenses ever. Leach is gonna have to step his play calling game up a few thousand notches.

He scored 6 points against BYU, 6 points against Oregon State, 6 points against Utah, 17 points against Stanford and Cal, and 24 points against an FCS school. That’s pretty damn inept.

I really thought if there was one guy on this board that would admire someone for not changing lanes, it would be you.

And yet, still better than the last 3 games we've played.

Maybe turnover wise, but not point total wise. The point is he has been really bad offensively before and doing an All SEC schedule with no spring is a recipe for disaster. As much as I wanted to think it would be better I should have known we would struggle offensively.

Turnovers count, especially when they're a pick-6. Leach has said himself he's never had 3 games like these last 3. Welcome to the SEC.

It has been a sad stretch, but Leach does not run the ball very often period. He is not about to start. We just fired one coach after 2 years that did not have a horrible record. The pirate will be our coach for the next 4 years win lose or draw. I realize this is a fan forum and rumors are encouraged as well as ridiculous hyperbole but we all know this is gonna either work or be a terrible 4 year train wreck. And no Kentucky was not a success. And this ain't the PAC 12

You say “welcome to the SEC” like this offense hasn’t already been proven to work in the SEC. UK averaged 30 ppg in SEC games in 97-98 with Leach at OC, and that was back when the East was the strength of the league like the West is now.

The SEC is a different game.

No it's not.

A little tougher? Yes, but we're making it look tougher than it is. An offense that has worked for 20 years around the country doesn't all the sudden suck in the SEC. A slight regression? yes, but not what we're seeing.

Leach may have to make some subtle adjustments down the line, but our execution is so poor that picking out exactly what those adjustments need to be is tough for Leach right now.

Once the execution improves and he can actually see the true deficiencies of the offense, he'll adjust
