My only real surprise is that it took this long. It honestly hasn’t felt like he’s been in the mix for serious PT at any point while he’s been here, but my hat’s off to the kid for grinding it out as long as he has

Feel bad for Mayden in some ways considering he was a Mullen commit and then ended up having two other coaches in three years. From all indications he ended up not really being what we hoped he would, but maybe he can still have a good career at a smaller school.

Pendley had to go and another back-up OL is right behind him for the same reason.

If you can't break into the starting 5 or 2 deep against the crew we've been putting on the field, you need to go................

He's a RS Freshman and will have four years to play after this year. Not getting in the 2 deep at this point doesn't mean he won't be solid. Guessing it's either it's obvious he doesn't belong in the SEC, or he doesn't like the Leach program, or just isn't enjoying MSU/starkville.

And considering our history of developing projects on the OL, you hate to be losing guys like this because it just resets the development clock. Maybe he just wasn’t planning out or maybe he was a recruiting miss to begin with, but either way, a loss at this position hurts when you recruit OL like we do

Because there was no spring for players to jump ship under a new coach like there would be in a normal year.

I don't blame these guys for leaving... If they can't break the two deep or at least close after two years it's not likely they ever will.

Keep in mind, none of these guys will be losing eligibility this year. No way we can sign 20-25 to this year's class otherwise. All of them can come back, even Kylin if he wanted.

Someone has to go or we don't sign em. We just offered another RB yesterday, Walker? When would he play? As a tackling dummy?

I figure it will be a lot of guys entering the portal and find a new home but there will be some that don't land anywhere. I would like to think all our guys are good enough but every team is going to have this issue of too many players.

I think a lot of this would have happened in the spring and summer in a normal year.

Correct. Guys not playing want to play and those that break the rules will be shown the door. I expect to lose a starter, possibly a couple but hopefully that doesn't happen.
Let the rebuild begin! We've sucked since 2016 minus one year where a ****** coach killed it. Time to get it going on the other direction. Hopefully Leach is the person to do that.

That’s a really interesting point that I don’t guess I have really thought about. It still seems strange to leave mid season for them, but you’re right in that many of them would have left during the spring, under normal circumstances. What a weird season.

We didn't suck any of those years. Look I get that you are a member of Gene's Page but you need to settle down. If Cohen had used common sense in 2017 when Mullen left, we'd have been just fine. The notion that are in need of a total rebuilding of the program is downright laughable.

As bad as I hate to agree with Queef, after 2 years of soft coaching and considering its a complete change of direction for this team Leach has to get rid of any players that are not buying into his system. We got enough problems without players undermining the coaches. If they have disciplinary issues or problem attitudes they need to go somewhere they would rather be. Free them up to seek happiness elsewhere
