The Vandy game will be big for Cohen...

Nelle - unfortunately, yes, the seat will be slightly warm.

I mean, you're wrong more than anyone on the interwebs, so I didn't expect you'd agree. John Cohen is in no way on the hot seat this year. With Covid and no spring etc, it's just not happening. And I'm not a Cohen fan at all. Man is in no way qualified to do the job.

It won't be. Nobody has a hot seat this year at State.
Have you been to a MSU game this season? Cohen screwed the pooch with his social justice platform in the UPig game... he could probably have gotten away with that if there was a decent product on the field. The TA&M game drew about 40-50% less butts in the stands on a perfect weather day for Football.... look at the crowd at Ole Miss today... they have enthusiasm and as many butts in the seats as possible on a cold rainy day.

Cohen’s seat won’t be hot until Leach’s seat is hot in 3-4 years. The Vandy game in COVID wrecked 2020 will have no impact.

So that's your real problem with Cohen!

No my problem with Cohen is no other FBS school would have hired him... we are in the SEC, big boy Athletics. He has shown a high degree of incompetence in running an Athletic Department and coaching hires....but there was a lot of people at the UPig game that had a problem with him and his social justice show.

Pretty sad that we seem to be looking ahead to that one game as somehow crucial to this whole season. I mean, has everybody just conceded all of the rest of our games as losses?

It will be warm, which means a significant amount of people aren’t happy with him. It’ll be hot next year if we continue this trend. Then he’ll be fired in 2022 so a new AD can hire the next coach. That’s IF the current trend continues.

I hope that was clear enough for you. Else you’re just a simpleton.

FBS ??? I'd wager he couldn't score a DIII AD job unless he'd work free. The guy has zilch for a resume.

Well, you're wrong but ok. The common fan doesn't have a say. The money donors are on his side. He's going nowhere unless Leach flames out and that won't be after one or two seasons.

You’re seriously talking to me about money donors and who makes decisions. I guess you really are a simpleton. I thought we were beyond this.

Also, our money donors are as fickle as our common fans. Remember that.

We’re also talking about firing Cohen here. There’s no buyout.

I found this out during the Moorhead debacle, in fact I'm not sure Keenum could fire him without some really bad stuff going down. I don't know who his "sugar daddies" are but I'm convinced they're some of our very biggest donors .

Ridiculous. Cohen is not on ANY hotseat at all...

If Leach struggles or gets beat against Vandy....Cohen’s seat will be extremely warm.

Can't blame Cohen for making hires that look good on paper and are heralded by journalists and coaches everywhere. Both Moorhead and Leach were seen as good hires. So was Cann, and Lemonis has proven himself so far. Can't blame Cohen for Cann's antics, no one could have predicted that. Other coaches Cohen has hired have done better than their predecessors, too.

What you can blame an AD for is not reacting when a coach doesn't seem to fit, and Cohen reacted quicker than nearly all other AD's would in firing Moorhead. Very few ADs would fire a coach after two bowl seasons, and that is DEFINITELY not a Mississippi State thing historically. And Cohen fired Cann quickly, too.

It's not like Cohen fired Mullen. We matched UF's offer but Mullen had been wanting out for years. You can't just automatically hire someone just as good. There's no guarantee that a Mullen clone running the same system would have the same results as Mullen or any better record than 1-3 right now.

Leach deserves more than four games to prove himself, especially with the crazy loss of spring practice and lack of easy non-conference games. Give us four easy non-conference games like Mullen often had and we'd be 5-3 and feeling better about Leach and Cohen.

You've also said that over 7,000 times. Do you have an affliction? Say things once maybe twice and if people still don't hear you 17 em but please for the love of god stop repeating yourself a billion times on everything. Life's too short for that brother.

Cohen should never have been hired. The sooner he is gone the better. We need a real AD by trade. Not a baseball coach.

I thought he would be a good AD...intelligent.... informative...love of MSu....but i never thought he would allow his political views (or his wife's) to cloud his job....

This was 3 days ago

Pat Chambers resigned Wednesday following an investigation by Penn State into allegations of inappropriate conduct by the longtime men's basketball coach. In a statement, Penn State said new allegations surfaced after The Undefeated reported in July that Rasir Bolton -- who transferred from Penn State to Iowa State in the summer of 2019 -- said he decided to leave the Nittany Lions because Chambers made a reference to a noose around Bolton's neck.

He hired what looked like a homerun in baseball that unfortunately thunk with the wrong head. The next baseball coach he hired went to Omaha. All of college football thought Moorhead was an excellent hire. Stricklin and Bryne probably make the same hire if here. He then convinces Keenum to let him let him go after back to back bowls, the guy he hired beats LSU in game one and most honest fans will tell you we don’t have the ideal personnel to be successful right now. The jury is still out on Wbb.

Football is all that matters when it comes to an AD in the SEC except at Kentucky and possibly Mizzou and Vandy. I'm not sure Cohen gets that. He certainly staked his job, and I think unknowingly on what really matters, on whoever he hired to replace Morehead after firing him AT MSU after two years. If Leach doesn't work out Cohen by definition will be fired first. Baseball is a minor sport.

Today is a big day for Cohen. If we lose all 200 fans at game, including me won’t be happy.

What sucks is nobody will blame Leach either. "Cohen is a terrible AD. He hired terrible coaches. ... Uh no Leach is great. He just needs more time and we will compete for titles."

Leach and Cohen are tied at the hip. They will both be walking the plank together in a few years if Leach doesn't make a few tweaks here and there to his 20+ year old air raid.

Hiring the wrong person for a position is the boss' fault and doesn't necessarily say the employee is bad at what he/she does...just wrong for that particular position. It's all on the boss who in this case was already in way over his head before he made the hire.

He must’ve kicked that’s baseball off the team. Or maybe Cohen kicked his dog. Such disdain for someone who doesn’t have an axe to grind is not natural.

I don't understand why our fans don't understand this. We have no say as far as who the AD is. The bad news for MSU is when Cohen leaves it will be some other MSU clone from the LT tree. No idea how we get out of that loop but that's the real issue.

My "axe to grind" is that I'm frustrated that his ineptitude is wrecking our football program that had finally gotten to a respectable, stable state after so many decades of wandering in the darkness . Now, your support is based on which of his outstanding decisions he's made as our AD ?

Half agree. The boss is responsible, but if an employee is not good at the job they were hired to perform, you cut bait or reassign.
