NFL needs a bubble or at least try to implement one or its over. I guess the Falcons just said 17it.

And again there is no way in hell you could do a bubble for NFL

With the way the current schedule is set up, I agree. But it could have been done to start with. They could have set up multiple bubbles and had a scaled down schedule. If you set up 4 bubbles and have 2 divisions in each bubble, it was possible. More difficult than basketball for sure, due to amount of people, but I believe it could have been done.

I think it's about players and family getting too lax. They are getting bolder with their decisions to go out and about. Not to mention their entourages are doing the same.

Why would it be over without a bubble? Damn, you give up so easily. MLB is finishing a season right now where they played without a bubble. Yeah postponements will happen. Games will be shuffled. But it can be done.

Should we revisit your posts from a few months ago where you said there is absolutely no way CFB can happen in 2020?

I don’t know that its fake, but its not a full fledged outbreak (yet). Just one rookie player an one assistant coach right now. Going through retesting / contact tracing protocols to verify if its a false positive or if there has been any further spread.

According to the NFL for the week of October 4-10 they did 37913 Covid Test on 7820 NFL players and personnel... they had 8 players to Test positive out of 2456 players.

Its gonna take forever for the NFL to reach herd immunity if they can’t put in a little effort to get those numbers up.

At what point are we allowed to ask

If it’s ok for these athletes to carry on like they did prior to 2020 and be OK with catching the virus and having to deal with the very small risk it poses to them? I’m assuming it’s fear of litigation driving most of these rules because I can’t see any other factor in a cost/benefit comparison that would justify what these teams are going through.

Considering that you already have players publicly accusing the NFL of only worrying about getting the games played and not caring about player safety even with the existing protocols, I’d say we are probably nowhere near that point.

I suspect that's the prime driver.

One player and one assistant coach? Oh the humanity!!1!!11! How can we as a society justify all the thousands, no millions, of lives we are putting at risk just to play football!?!?!?

At what point does the cost

I suspect that's the prime driver.
Of what they are losing right now outweigh the the cost of a lawsuit? I think there is enough data to show the risk/payout from a lawsuit would be much lower than whatever opportunity cost they are losing.

Covid is one of the least risky things these players encounter on the job.

You asked a question and I answered it. Players expect to be kept safe (within reason) from the virus because it affects more than just them. The fact that football is a dangerous game is a red herring...the health risks and financial rewards of playing it are befallen only on the players themselves and not the general population. You don’t have literal dozens of guys forgoing high 6-figure and up to 8-figure income for a year because they think only they are going to die or get seriously ill. It’s downright silly that we are 7 months into this thing and people still don’t grasp this very basic concept.

Until businesses are afforded protection from lawsuits from willfully employed personnel and patrons that enter the premises of their own volition, you will see every possible measure taken to prevent the spread Covid19.

I wasn’t trying to disagree with your statement that some players feel the NFLPA is not concerned with player safety related to covid. I was attempting to point out, and could have clearly done a better job of it, that I don’t understand why these guys would be more concerned about the risks of covid than they are about the other risks they face doing their job when the likelihood of them being harmed by covid is less than the likelihood of suffering life altering damage from the other risks they show no fear of.

I'm certain most of these guys aren't catching it on the facilities. The NFL should have mandated ankle bracelets in the absence of a bubble. Selfishly, in the least, it would have prevented me from losing Melvin Gordon for 3+ weeks this season

Its been 4 months since Iowa passed a law which largely shields businesses from being sued.
https://www.desmoinesregister.com/s...ses-covid-19-coronavirus-lawsuits/3148024001/

It isnt perfect, but it makes more sense than not having anything at all in place.
Its allowed businesses to stay open, youth sports to take place, schools to open, and more. How the 17 are other states doing all this without similar laws?

...i know this is about the NFL which is spread across the country and doesnt exist in Iowa. I really just figured other states had a similar law.
