JSU has already proven they can't run a university or athletic dept. This is simply further proof.

I love it. At the very least - he will sell tickets and more than likely be able to recruit.

I don’t see this being bad for JSU. Worst case he sucks and they fire him. Good chance that was going to happen with any coach. I don’t think Deion is going to do anything to embarrass the university.

Among the many funny things is he isn't even going to join the team until he finishes up the OC job at his son's school.

I wonder what % of college football coaching jobs end up where a coach doesn't get fired? 5%? 10%?

Like Dan Mullen leaving State - that would be one that is included.

It will bring attention to their program, but that is it. If Tony couldn't win there, I doubt Prime Time will. We'll see.

This has disaster written all over it. But it'll be fun to watch. I hope I'm wrong. I like Deion and I want JSU to get back to dominating the SWAC like they used to in the old days.

I think that's right. Realistically, I'm not sure how much better he'll be at recruiting than Tony was. Tony presumably locked down the Mississippi talent that was willing to go to a HBC. Deion might bring in some players from out of state that go to JSU instead of other HBC's, so maybe that results in a significant enough talent edge against their in conference competition that it works, but I'm skeptical.

If I were JSU, I would have seen if Jay Hopson's heart was still in coaching and seen if he had any interest. Surely if he could win at Alcorn he could win at JSU.

Not me....I've been an Alcorn fan since "The Godfather" walked the sidelines down in Lorman. I'd like to see J-State competitive (just barely though) cause it's good for the city of Jackson and the State of MS but don't want them dominating like they did yrs ago.

No middle ground here

This will either go really well or really bad. I say good for Jackson State and I'd be excited to see what happens.

That said, if it was a NCAAB situation, I can see a situation where an HBCU can contend at a fairly high level.

Hilarious. I guess that’s the SWAC equivalent of when Croom hung out at Green Bay until they were out of the playoffs.

Imagine your new HC not coming to campus to finish out coordinating a HS team.

well it's a weird season for one. JSU doesn't start until spring it is what it is so he is finishing out this season. tell me when there has been a fall season and a spring season. typically a coach would finish out his season before going to the next school unless it's a bowl game. in this case also, it's his son's team.

Exactly, what does Jackson State have to lose? I hope he does well. Deion being a success is good for the state of MS.
