I'm not sure if it's been discussed but anyone think coach Leach will keep our same traditions in place. Specifically our Dawg pound Rock and Don't Stop Believing. (Even though COVID will effect attendance)

I suspect he’s given that little to no thought.

Things like the Dog Pound Rock are passed from player to player. That is what keeps those types of traditions alive.

That behavior was from SchloeMo installing zero discipline in our football program.

Yeah the current iteration of the DPR can’t hold a candle to the original. It has looked like a bunch of guys just going through the motions for years with zero excitement or passion.

I could get down with keeping it if Kenzaki and Eugene Clinton came back and instructed the team on its proper performance.

It’s no where near the same but most that remember the electricity that it brought in the 90’s enjoy its nostalgia still. We may not have gotten to 17 points all that often back then but I loved how those teams would hit you in the mouth, and the DPR embodied that.

This is exactly my point. Back in the day it was much more spontaneous and was usually fueled by a big play or swing in momentum. Now it's something they do before the opening kickoff, where half the team forgets about it. It just feels forced now.

Memories of the entire freakin' stadium doing the DPR in 99 during that streak of comeback wins we had that year, and especially after the game winning FG in the egg bowl that year, are easily among my fondest MSU football memories ever. What we do now ain't that.

I think it should be used selectively and in spots.

Up or close game against LSU at night in Davis Wade let it fly.

Getting blown out by Bama or blowing out an FCS team at Noon start. Let’s not.

Just like Don’t Stop Believin’ it’s gotten diluted, they need to just pick their spots in doing it.

Maybe its time to create something new. I believe in traditions but I could put it to rest for something new.

I AGREE with Pine Grove... no... more... dunks!

I'd be impressed if Miss State could just hang on to the maroon and white tradition, just one full season.

If your soul isn’t committed to skull dragging your opponent, you prolly shouldn’t do the DPR.

Our whole bench and kickoff team against LSU in 2017 when they went crazy is what we need to act like if we are going to continue the dpr. It was natural and not forced. That looked more like the dpr than any actual dpr we have done since the 90s.

That was a great moment and certainly better than any DPR we've done in a long time. Another couple of favorites of mine are the video of Croom after the 2007 Alabama win talking to the team in the locker room and saying "let's rock it", and then the DPR breaks out. And then the 2010 Arkansas game when Welcome to the Jungle played over the PA right as we were starting overtime. That was freaking awesome.

There is a big difference in manufactured excitement and organic excitement, and our fans can tell the difference. It's why Don't Stop Believin' during the 2014 Auburn game was such a big hit but our fans cringe when it's played as we are getting our brains beat in by an SEC West rival. You really have to pick your spots with those things.

Yeah. Maybe just have the guys on the kickoff unit do it. Make it an exclusive thing. The rest of the team half asses it right now. Just like they half assed strength and conditioning the past two years.

I've always wanted them to bring back the Mad Dawgs kickoff unit that started under Jackie and then just went away. It was basically patterned after the 12th man at Texas A&M. I think they had a patch on their jersey or something. Even before we got Leach I wanted us to bring it back and put a small skull with crossbones on the back of the helmet with five stars under it as the Mad Dawgs decal. As a tribute to MSU alum Bull Sullivan.

We should retire both.

The Dog Pound Rock was great back in the day, and those days are long gone.

I never have liked the Don't Stop Believing thing.

Just my opinion.

I don’t see DSB going anywhere. I’ll admit it. When I’m driving and I have my two little ones (6) (7) in the back anytime that song come on they both hold their hands up like the have a phone, sing along, and go right in to ringing imaginary cowbells it’s pretty awesome. That’s the whole reason they know that song.

I wouldn't complain if we let both of them go. Don't Stop Believing should be situational at best.

And your mom identifies as a dude and you are ok with that.

Yeah, so? Wait, was that the joke? Good one.

Ya know, you throw a lot of transphobic and homophobic remarks around for a man with a soapy shirtless Ryan Reynolds as his avatar.

Agree with both of you. Picking prime times also creates a anticipation factor with the fans. Will they? When? Which?
