#Alpha, the first Greek Alphabet storm of the 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season, has formed as a subtropical storm off the coast of Portugal and will move northeast over Spain. Next storm name up is Beta. pic.twitter.com/DSJGeoQXUX— NWS Jackson MS (@NWSJacksonMS) September 18, 2020

Im glad Teddy is staying out at sea. It’s a cat 4 now, and projected to be a Cat 1 if it makes landfall.

Kind of odd seeing Canada forecasted to get hit by a hurricane.

Made it to Zeta (6th Greek letter) in 2005, will probably get close or even pass it this season since it’s only mid September.

More like about once every three years for a true hurricane to hit Canada. Still more than you would expect.

The storm in the Gulf was going to be named Alpha this morning, but the air force recon plane was struck by lightning en route and had to turn around before they could confirm it was a tropical storm. That allowed the one in the Atlantic to be named Alpha. Expect Beta to be named this afternoon when recon gets another plane into the storm.
