Happy 3-2 day everybody. 12 years later and I still remember the feeling leaving that game like it was an hour ago.

Thankfully, there are some great “did that really just happen?” moments for MSU fans over the years. However, there are also some pretty terrible ones, and if I were to make a Top 10, I’m fairly certain that 9 came during the Croom era.

I don’t know where this one falls as compared to Maine, punting in Athens on 4th and short, or 45-0 in Oxford, but it’s somewhere in my Top 3. I had the joy of witnessing that abomination in person, and I’ll never forget the feeling of starting a drive at midfield on multiple occasions, yet knowing you had a less than 0% chance of putting points on the board. If there was a single play that embodies the Croom years more than any other, it’d probably be Lance Long’s 6 yd flat route on a 3rd and 7

I literally laughed out loud.

The Dolly Parton song put over the top.

Nobody “won” that game. Auburn should not be allowed to put a tick in the win column. Should be a loss in ours and count the same as a forfeit in theirs.

I had totally forgotten about Auburn fumbling at midfield in the last five minutes TWICE... And we couldn't even get in field goal range either time. SMH.

I know it's fun to joke about what a bad coach Croom was during his time as HC at MSU, but by no means was a 3-2 loss to a SEC power one of the worst losses in our history. Was it boring? Yes. Was our offense a joke? Yes. But our defense played a hell of a game and although we couldn't move the ball, we had a chance to win the game until the end. I consider the loss to Maine, the loss to Alabama 31-0 when we never crossed mid field (Jack's Sonic Drive of the Game), and even the loss to Ole Miss in 2014 when everything was on the line and we let Bo Wallace hang 38 on us with a broken ankle much worse defeats than the 3-2 game to Auburn.

The only game I've been to where both fan bases felt like they lost. The Auburn fans were as mad as us State fans when leaving the stadium.

Talk about turning a frown upside down!!! That was hilarious to watch but it wasn't 12 years ago. What sucked was watching this monstrosity with a house full of boogs and having to listen to them ***** and moan about how they were SO much better than the poor old bulldogs and they couldn't believe they were playing so bad.

I've been over here going on 24 years now and Bama fans can be annoying but it's easier to dismiss what you hear from them because 95% of them can't even spell Tuscaloosa. On the other hand, the majority of obnoxious Auburn fans, that I have interacted with over the years, actually graduated from there. They have good jobs, are relatively intelligent but are extremely petty when it comes to their football team and the perception they have of it vs ours.

While I get what you are saying, I can assure you that we would all have collectively felt much differently about this game if it was us that had the “3”.

I kept thinking we were going to come back and win, but it just wasn't in the cards.
