Mine too. Or if they played and donated every dollar to educating black children who really want to be educated.

1. How do deal with adversity particularly when it comes to the police.

2. The importance of education. Not college but education.

3. Work ethic beats everything.

Athletes are often very engaged in their current cities and hometowns.

Athletes are very engaged. Some of that is initially organized by the leagues or teams, but many take it on themselves. Just ask JJ Watt.

I'll probably watch at least at the beginning to see if they get booed, but the Miami/UAB game will probably be better. Basically, college is more entertaining to me than NFL, although Mahomes is fun to watch.

Legit curious what you mean by better? I completely get people enjoying the pageantry/school alliances surrounding college football - I'm one of them. Take away that & college ball is essentially minor league NFL.

Or maybe you're saying the college game will be close and this NFL game will be a blowout?

Yeah, it doesn't show that at all. Not everyone who is tuning out the NBA is tuning in Tucker Carlson. His ratings have been pretty steady throughout all of this. He's not being watched for entertainment, and he's not an entertainer. In case you haven't noticed, there's a lot of newsworthy stuff that's been going on and average Americans have been getting shoveled pile after pile of ******** from the mainstream media. His show cuts through a lot of that, and that's why it's popular. Average Americans who have a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility are tired of being told they're a racist and a bigot every day, and they're motivated.
Couldn't have said it any better.

Thank you!

Which shows people don’t mind politics being involved in entertainment (which I’m assuming is why people watch tv), they just want it to be their politics.

If some players decided to wear a MAGA hat out and stand while others were kneeling during the anthem, there would definitely be outrage from the left. It would be nice if everyone could just ignore people’s demonstrations and just watch the football game, if they want to watch it.

This is the truest thing you’ll read all day. People don’t give a damn about politics in entertainment. They just want it to be their politics. And many of them want it to be someone who looks like them saying it.

Imagining arguing with anyone and getting shot, much less in the back

Imagine not physically fighting the cop, putting him in a headlock, having a knife while doing all of that with a record of violence known to them and NOT reaching in your car...

Problem.... solved. Just like with the NFL, NBA, MLB all pooling their money to literally solve the issues that create this according to them in a matter of a day.

Is this where I get up in arms and declare that I'm not watching, even though I wasn't watching regardless? Also, I agree. Too much real life in entertainment devalues the entertainment.

I found a simple solution way back when it all started. Watch the pregame, I usually don't. Switch when the protest/kneeling starts. When the "kickoff nobody runs back" is made switch back.

You can make your own protest. You might not believe it shows up in the numbers but I will bet someone will be paying attention.

You get into a very physical altercation with me and go to your car to retrieve a weapon while I’m already carrying a weapon — it’s the exact outcome you should expect. I’m not going to wait around to compare weapons with you — and the implication that a cop should do that is utterly asinine.

I’ll take note of their protest if and when they decide to stop being so selective in what they protest. Gun violence an innocent deaths of children no protest no mention of names, no names on helmets. Include all those innocent children and call out all the ones indiscriminately killing others and then I’ll listen to their protest.

I won't pretend to be the ultimate authority on this, but I don't even want "my" politics mixing with "my" religion. This stuff needs to stay in it's own compartmentalized box -- it was put there for a reason. I guess when we stopped teaching history everyone forgot the reason and are thus dooming it to repeating. Keeping divisive things separated and when possible removed is how we've developed the most advanced, inclusive, and freest society the world has ever seen. And don't think pointing me to some European utopia some chart somewhere says is better is going to change my mind when said location would be literal slaves almost immediately if we ceased to exist.

We've got our problems, sure. But introducing division to one of America's traditionally biggest unifiers is one helluva way to try to solve them.

If you want to wear a BLM hat on the side line, go for it. I’ll just think you are dumb.
If you want to wear a trump hat on the side line, go for it. I’ll think you are awesome.

If you won’t let the cowboys honor slain police officers in 2016, why in the hell would you even consider allowing teams to honor criminals (rapists)? Or did we stop believing women?

I wonder if tucker will have better ratings. His ratings have been four to five times better than the NBA playoffs.

I am so tired of ratings being the legitimizer for political leaning opinions. Why would we ever use the metric of who watches a TV show more than another TV show as proof of anything political? Its insane. We are using TV watching to defend our politics- that is so 17ing USA of us.

More people watch the NBA compared to the NHL. That doesnt mean the NHL is bad/wrong/needs to change.

Why is it cool to sit and watch TV? I do a ton of it, but I for sure dont associate it with any moral superiority.

If Carlson isnt an entertainer, then he is a journalist. You dont want him to be a journalist in his current form, since he doesnt follow journalistic rules. He is absolutely an entertainer. He gives his opinion and commentary- it is inherently skewed and should be viewed as infotainment.

I mean per them and the ones I have read here. That's the issue. msgtrglf guy made a list somewhere here. It checks EVERYTHING off the list.

No crimes means no need for interaction with police.

No poverty means no money issues.

They literally have the ability to fix everything they are preaching to us about. Not only do they solve the issues, they gain more fans!

It's a win win win situation!

I forgot... Another win is that people get to watch sports and not see a political message....

What list did I make that checks everything off? I dont think I have ever advocated for no crimes and no poverty.

Don't forget he also pays himself to play golf at his golf course and for all the secret serviceman to walk the fairways at his golf course and for all the secret service to stay at his own hotel. So pretty much he makes back that salary he donates in like two days of extorting American taxpayers. But you keep sucking his nuts.

If the fans boo, it probably won't be shown on television, especially if it's widespread and vocal booing.

Exactly what I said - more entertaining. It's merely an opinion - others may like the NFL better. NFL athletes are more like fine-tuned machines, and it shows. I certainly appreciate their talent level, but non-perfection at the college level makes for a more enjoyable game (I like to watch Dak play at the NFL level, but probably wouldn't had he not played for MSU). Hopefully UAB can make things interesting against the big boys.

Nationwide, there's no doubt that the NFL game will have higher ratings. If Alabama were playing Ohio State tonight, or equivalent, ratings might be closer.

I suppose booing is a form of protest. Might be classless, but it's peaceful, as opposed to rioting, looting, and arson.

I'm watching. Y'all enjoy Tucker Carlson.

You'd certainly get more of the inconvenient truth watching Tucker and not a bunch of divisive lies pushed by overpaid athletes. I feel certain Tucker will have higher ratings too, so you don't have to encourage anyone to watch.

"Arguing with police" doesn't cost people their lives. What a ****** and highly inflammatory thing to say. And people blame Trump for division in America?

That you are tired of "ratings being the legitimizer" only means that you are tired of having the unpopular opinion. But guess what? You're going to continue to have the unpopular opinion because your opinions and ideas are wrong. If Don Lemon was sharing truth and calling things for what they are, his show would be highly rated, too.

And Tucker Carlson is neither an entertainer nor an journalist. He's a political pundit. There's a huge difference. You have armies of political pundits all over mainstream media that pass themselves off as journalists, and that's why the approval rating for mainstream media is in the toilet. You can disagree with Carlson, Ingraham, or Hannity (who I actually dispise), but all three of those people openly claim that they are pundits and not journalists. The left wingers twist themselves into pretzels by ignoring this and painting Fox News as some propaganda outlet, while their straight news personalities, like Wallace, McCallum, Baier, Hume, and Bream, actually are "fair and balanced."

So you can put it on Fox and hear Brett Baier reporting the news, or you can flip it over to CNN and listen to Wolf Blitzer being a left wing pundit while trying to portray himself as a news reporter. And THIS is why people go to Fox News in droves.

Now do Obama.

Why Mr. Whataboutism? Trump is the one currently stealing millions from taxpayers and killing Americans by downplaying Covid for 6 months now. He's a much bigger problem than whatever Obama did in 2012.
