Is this where I get up in arms and declare that I'm not watching, even though I wasn't watching regardless? Also, I agree. Too much real life in entertainment devalues the entertainment.

Pretty much me. I probably would want to protest by not watching, but I'm not watching anyway. We shall see how SEC football goes. Just depends on how woke they're going to go.

If they demonstrated by refusing to play and forfeiting their games checks they'd have my attention.

You think KC is going to boo their Super Bowl Champion team on opening night? No way.

For the rest of you overly sensitive nancies, turn it on at the scheduled kick-off time to miss the pre-grame crap if it makes you that mad. I love the Chiefs AND I wish this political/sport mix would go away...but whatever. I can't wait to watch some real football.

How many fans are being allowed in?

I've reached total apathy on the issue. The article states they may stay in the locker room during the anthem. I'm fine with that.

All this falls into a few buckets:

1) It's not really raising any awareness of anything anymore. Due to other factors beyond their kneeling, the public is more than aware of the issue they were attempting to bring awareness to. Now it seems they are mostly just doing it to bring attention to themselves.
2) It's non-vocal and peaceful
3) If you ignore it and don't talk about it - at some point it just goes away

This. I love my nieces and nephews but hate hearing them scream and cry. So I leave the room when they do. I come back in the room when they are fun again.

I wonder if tucker will have better ratings. His ratings have been four to five times better than the NBA playoffs.

Which shows people don’t mind politics being involved in entertainment (which I’m assuming is why people watch tv), they just want it to be their politics.

If some players decided to wear a MAGA hat out and stand while others were kneeling during the anthem, there would definitely be outrage from the left. It would be nice if everyone could just ignore people’s demonstrations and just watch the football game, if they want to watch it.

All it says is that they might not be on the field for the anthem.

You know, the thing that happened before literally every game before 9/11.

What? Maybe it's just people want politics where they go for politics, and sports they go for sports. I don't wanna see all the players run out with a MAGA hat anymore than I wanna see BLM on everything and kneeling. I don't wanna tune in to tucker for commentary on the braves and saints either.

Not everything has to be negative

Until these multi-millionaire babies get out into the cities and communities and do things on the front lines for real change and awareness....not much will ever change in the areas of inequality, unfortunately.

Athletes are often very engaged in their current cities and hometowns.

Staying in the locker room during the National Anthem is a protest I could get behind. If, of course, there weren't 50 cameras there.

Better yet -- if your ultimate job is to sell a product to as many people as you possibly can -- you make a tremendous effort not to alienate ANYONE. Someone telling a SIGNIFICANT portion of their potential fanbase to go 17 themselves on the front end is just bad business. It doesn't matter what you believe in either. All of that will show up in these bottom lines sooner or later.

Yeah, it doesn't show that at all. Not everyone who is tuning out the NBA is tuning in Tucker Carlson. His ratings have been pretty steady throughout all of this. He's not being watched for entertainment, and he's not an entertainer. In case you haven't noticed, there's a lot of newsworthy stuff that's been going on and average Americans have been getting shoveled pile after pile of ******** from the mainstream media. His show cuts through a lot of that, and that's why it's popular. Average Americans who have a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility are tired of being told they're a racist and a bigot every day, and they're motivated.

But would you stop watching Tucker if he discussed sports for less than 3 minutes to start his show?

He’s not really the news... sure he covers some current events but he’s an opinion show, right? Is that what we call the news now?

Why boo? It's pretty clear what the players are gonna do and the owners and coaches and networks support it. Maybe don't show up, don't watch and don't give them your money instead. Are people that emotionally dependent on players entertaining them?

Since there is a belief that people stop committing crimes when they are not in poverty and they are protesting over the effects of poverty and it's only happening in Black communities ..Here is what I want to see happen:

1- A commitment from the players to pool their money together and set up a fund:

2- To give every family that is classified as poverty no LESS than 1 million each.

3- Don't exclude gang members...

4- Don't exclude those in prison.

5- Don't excluded drug dealers...etc.

I also want to see them agree to continue to fund that fund.

The NBA alone could do that with ease. When you add in the NFL and MLB..... It's easy.

Which is what a sizable percentage of people are going to do. I guarantee you that 100% of these owners don't actually support taking money that initially comes out of their pockets before it's eventually felt on a smaller scale on down the line by the players. They HATE politics being injected into these games. But it's truly an amazing world we live in where they can't come out and say "alienate no one" for fear of the repercussions from the mobs currently lashing out against common sense.

I'll probably watch at least at the beginning to see if they get booed, but the Miami/UAB game will probably be better. Basically, college is more entertaining to me than NFL, although Mahomes is fun to watch.

See I want to watch but I’m not going to out of principle. Or at least I hope NOT to out of principle.

Principle being the key word there.

My principles keep me from arguing with the police or resisting arrest. Therefore my principles KEEP ME ALIVE!

I mean per them and the ones I have read here. That's the issue. msgtrglf guy made a list somewhere here. It checks EVERYTHING off the list.

No crimes means no need for interaction with police.

No poverty means no money issues.

They literally have the ability to fix everything they are preaching to us about. Not only do they solve the issues, they gain more fans!

It's a win win win situation!

I forgot... Another win is that people get to watch sports and not see a political message....
