What say you about Tesla right now. Absurd gains in August, and they lost half of that last week. Buy today?

What we've always said about TSLA. Nothing on TSLA has changed while it was running up or while it's been running down.

It's a speculative investment at this point where the stock price is and where the valuation is.

I'm still a TESLA bear. I don't see how they are going to make revenues to justify their valuation. But if I had been paying attention, I probably would have wondered why the hell people were paying so much for a online book store and would have wondered where in the hell they were going to get the revenue from.

I'd like to see them make money without government subsidies before thinking they're the next giant.

You didn’t say not to buy, so I’m all in.
“All” is a very relative term.

Here's an interesting take from a teardown of a Tesla automobile (https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Au...s-electronics-6-years-ahead-of-Toyota-and-VW2).

In short, they are doing things that the legacy auto makers' logistics are unable to accomplish due to a reliance on OEMs. While the major manufacturers have kept their 'key' technologies developed in-house (engines, bodies, drivetrain), Tesla has a whole different view as to what their key technologies are. This means that their ECUs, Infotainment units, and other electronics will all use the latest technology and be tailored to Tesla's and only Tesla's requirements. On the other hand, it means the NRE costs of those components is much higher since they aren't selling the components to other manufacturers.

I've heard many say that Tesla is a electric car technology company and not an electric car company, but they are in fact both. And unlike the OEMs for the legacy automotive companies, Tesla has little interest in selling the technology elsewhere, or at least in a form factor that would compete with their own cars. They might sell the 2020 technology in 2024 to the legacy auto makers.

I bought a couple of shares this morning when it dipped to 340 or so. I figured why not.

Just looking at technicals.... TSLA is testing it's 50 day moving average at 330 right now.... If it falls below that, next stop may be the consolidation level at 280... After that, it's to the 200 day moving average at 180... Which also is the pre Covid19 high. That's the first area I would look at buying. Unlike Zoom, Amazon, Microsoft, or even Apple, there is nothing about Covid19 that makes Tesla more valuable other than a little bit of cheaper money...

This stock has been very speculative throughout history and the last few months is no different. The S&P shutout was the pin prick Tesla needed. It sure looks like a head and shoulders pattern setting up, but that seems way to obvious.

Often high NRE translates into parts costs that are order of magnitude cheaper in the end, assuming Tesla volumes are adequate to support necessary quantities.

How are you doing in the cruise lines? I remember you were interested in them a while back. I'm sure you could have averaged down and have a low basis at this point if you were watching it closely.

i took a very small position and am doing well on RCL. thats the only one i went in on (did go in on Delta and United as well). i bought it @ $ 34

as far as TESLA, i believe part of the dive is the rise of NIKOLA (up 40% today) after GM announced they would be 11% shareholders.

I think it shows how far behind or how different NKLA is than TSLA. I heard the NKLA ceo, or I think he said this morning, they don't intend to manufacturer cars and never did.

TSLA went through the growing pains of learning how to produce a car, so they own the whole end to end process. I'm not sure what NKLA is. Maybe a technology company that loans their technology to auto manufacturers, NKLA collects a royalty and NKLA gives the manufacturer equity interest (today they gave GM 11%), which may dilute current shareholders ownership of the company? Either way it's highly speculative and I have no way to give an opinion on something like that. Oh yeah NKLA is trying to get into the hydrogen fuel distribution business as well? A new car maker and a brand new energy company virtually creating a new industry???

I'd say it's like the roulette table, but at the roulette table the pay out is quick or the loss is immediate.

I'd probably rather play the roulette table tbh.

TSLA is a meme stock, nothing more imo. It doesn’t obey reason and logic.

I mean it was a 2k stock. That was unbelievable.

I find it funny they don’t even make their own batteries for their cars.

And your last sentence is over my head. I bought in once, never sold or bought more.

I think NKLA is a get rich quick con for its early investors. A car company that doesn’t plan to make cars, and said it plans to be the best selling pickup? Also, I don’t think hydrogen is viable, that’s why it can also be electric. The hybrid is just marketing. I like that Tesla is taking the long range approach and investing heavily in the charging stations. That will bring in the constant revenue stream after getting the initial car sale. I’ll leave the technical number crunching to you experts.

I have to take up for them there,

find it funny they don’t even make their own batteries for their cars.

They built a factory in Nevada, just to build batteries.

Panasonic has been making TSLA batteries for a while. They’re the ones in the Giga factory lol.

Tesla Giga Nevada (or Gigafactory 1)[SUP][5][/SUP] is a lithium-ion battery and electric vehicle subassembly factory near Reno, Nevada.[SUP][6][/SUP][SUP][7][/SUP][SUP][8][/SUP] The facility is owned and operated by Tesla, Inc. to supply the battery packs for its electric vehicles and stationary storage systems. It is located at the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC) in Storey County, and employs around 7,000 people at the end of 2018,[SUP][3][/SUP] with a timetable and hiring goals of eventual thousands more jobs in Reno with nearly 10,000 statewide, and over $100 billion in economic activity. Future manufacturing programs may also move to Nevada.[SUP][9][/SUP][SUP][10][/SUP][SUP][11][/SUP]
The factory started limited production of Powerwalls and Powerpacks in the first quarter of 2016[SUP][12][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP] using battery cells produced elsewhere, and began mass production of cells in January 2017.[SUP][13][/SUP] Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval estimated that Nevada would enjoy $100 billion in economic benefit over two decades from the construction and operation of this factory.[SUP][10][/SUP] The grand opening event was held on July 29, 2016.[SUP][14][/SUP]
Gigafactory 1 is aligned on true north, which was done so that the equipment can be mapped by GPS and solar panels on the roof can be accurately aligned.[SUP][citation needed][/SUP] The factory has also been designed to become entirely energy self-reliant. Tesla intends to power the structure through a combination of on-site solar, wind and geo-thermal sources.[SUP][15][/SUP] When completed, the building will have the largest footprint in the world and second largest volume.[SUP][16][/SUP]
Tesla’s Gigafactory 2 produces solar tiles and vehicle chargers in Buffalo, New York, and Giga Shanghai in Shanghai, China produces vehicles.[SUP][17][/SUP][SUP][18][/SUP][SUP][19][/SUP][SUP][20][/SUP] Gigafactory Europe near Berlin, Germany is currently being built and expected to complete in 2021.[SUP][21][/SUP] Lastly, a second North American factory (Giga Texas) is being built in Austin, TX.[SUP][22][/SUP]
According to Elon Musk, one hundred factories like Giga Nevada, will be necessary to transit the world to a complete sustainable energy consumption.[SUP][23][/SUP]

What are you arguing dude? Panasonic builds TSLA batteries in the Giga factory in Nevada. That’s a fact.

I'm just stating that thy are in control of the factory, they built it, it was a big deal at the time.
SO they build their own batteries, That is the message.

Panasonic builds it for them. Of course TSLA owns the batteries after they’re built for them, but Panasonic technology and Panasonic Corporation builds the battery.

And they were doing it long before the Giga Factory was built.
