My question is other than being able to say you did it, what does this really accomplish? It’s not a game and no one watches practice? I’m just asking...

Not trying to be an *** or insensitive, but what exactly do they expect the university to do about someone getting shot in Wisconsin? Typically when people boycott something, it is because they are upset at that person/business/thing. What would they be upset at the school about?

Just genuinely curious. Also, now would be a good time to keep a microphone away from Mike Leach.

When asked awhile back, we responded that we would still like to receive our season tickets for 2020. I am starting to feel like that was a mistake. Been attending Bulldog football games every year since 1961 but it won’t take much of this for me to call it done.

Not just someone. They are protesting an armed criminal that was trying to fight law enforcement but they don’t want to hear facts. They just believe whatever social media tells them to believe

It’s called virtue signaling.

This is not the case with college players obviously, but with most celebrities/sports figures all the do is tweet about ****. They don’t ever actually donate money to help stuff. They just raise awareness. Do you think there is a person in the United States right now that does not know police have killed black people recently? **** does not awareness raised.

I know that they see other teams doing this and believe it's the right way to go about things, but I think this probably does more to frustrate a pretty sizable chunk of our fanbase than it does to bring any kind of social justice or unity.

When you get confronted by the police, shut your damn mouth, do what they tell you and deal with it in court. This guy set a bad example for his kids and it also cost him his life.


Our team is on the wrong side of history on this one.

I think protesting over Jacob Blake is dumb AF; but this is an actual peaceful protest, so no problem with it.

Well in that case we need to stop wasting money getting pink **** for breast cancer since the odds of anyone football team getting it is low and everyone already knows the dangers of it

You can protest killing people. You could write letters to senators and congressional representatives about getting laws passed that would hold police accountable if they do something illegal. You could write letters to newspaper or blog editors in an effort to get you opinion some visibility.

I can think of a million more effective ways to “use your voice” than skipping a football practice. It would be like skipping your brother’s birthday party because you’re mad about your girlfriend flirting with your best friend. It doesn’t really accomplish anything except frustrate your brother, who did nothing wrong and can’t do anything to fix the problem.

Not exactly the most appropriate comparison. I’m sure no school is really going to be too frustrated by missing one practice. But you get the point. I just don’t think a football practice boycott is going to get anything done.

Little late to ask I guess but what exactly do all of these "protesters" want ? Different set of laws for blacks ? Abandon black neighborhoods ? Unarmed police that can only suggest that people do right ?

I don’t have a problem, per se. Just don’t think it accomplishes anything meaningful or brings any actual additional attention to an issue that is already plastered on every news outlet in America.

Yeah, Im about done with all of it. I could never imagine living without sports, but if this is what it looks like, I can find something else to do with my time. It just annoys me because I can't walk off my job to protest any of this stuf. I'll get fired. Protest all you want, but do it on your own damn time. If you walk off your job/team/practice, whatever, who are you protesting? Your team? Your job? Your university? It's like why I'm against refusing to stand during the anthem - it was misguided and directed at the wrong thing and as suspected, it's now spreading to other things. I'm just done with all of it. They can cancel the damn football season for all I care. It's not like we were picked to win the damn conference anyway.

The boycott is just a drop of water in the whole Pacific Ocean as far as things that will effect / screw up this 2020 Football season. Look at everything already on the "All You Can Eat Buffett of Choas":

- Pandemic limited practice time + trying to learn a new Offensive system and Defensive system.
- All SEC opponent schedule / no Non-Conference confidence building opponents.
- 25% filled stadiums / no home field advantages.
- Appathy and a "Let's just go Hunting" mindset of the fanbase.

what more do they do for you to see what you are supporting?

They could piss on the 50. Sports Cucks will go to the game.

A lot of people have found out over the last few months that life goes on without sports. If politics is continued to be injected into sports a lot of those same people will continue to do without it. I don't watch and follow sports to hear about politics, no matter how justified it is. Sports is an escape. When it is no longer that I, and many like me, will find another escape.

A cop is 18.5% more likely to be killed by a black person than a cop is to kill a black person. No matter how you look at it the facts don't jive with any of this protesting BS. If the black community was really upset about blacks being killed they'd fix their **** from the inside first.

Yeah, I would agree with that. The government has funneled billions to cancer research, with the largest portion going to cancer research. The pink shirts and socks don’t mean **** with the actual money that is given for cancer research.

I don’t disagree with this but what if the players who protest faced consequences for missing practice/work?

How would they and society react then?
