Smart decision. They weren't going to change anyone's mind who already held strong opinions about policing and race, they were just going to piss off people who just wanted to watch basketball.

Exactly as I thought would happen. Now I wasn’t there but it sounds like Lebron tried to pull a power play and got shut down.
I saw an article talking about how NBA players "don't owe us anything" .. yeah no ****, but they're paid to work like the rest of us.
I have had it on constantly. NBA is my favorite sport behind College football and the NFL.
Lebron could not get paid for the rest of his life and be okay. There are many, many other players who cannot do that. Some only get paid around 1mill for like 5 years or so. They need that money like air. The big stars don’t, but the role players outnumber the stars.
Agree, although I’d argue that “were just going to” can be replaced with “already have”. I grew up idolizing Jordan, I’ve loved the Grizzlies for nearly 20 years, and playoff basketball can be some of the best entertainment around, but I am completely done with this group. I was teetering, and the latest “boycott” has pushed me squarely over the edge

In all seriousness, Silver’s gotta be absolutely losing his damn mind. We can all say what we want about all this, but that dude has bent over backwards like no commissioner I’ve ever seen in order to both find a solution during this crazy pandemic AND support the players in every way. I don’t just mean patting them on the back and saying we hear you. I mean slogans on the jerseys, BLM on the court, tv ads during every commercial break that focus on social justice. He’s done it all, even spearheading financial contributions to these organizations

Yes. I like basketball, like many others in this world. Its quite a popular sport and the NBA is quite popular as well.
And give people who don’t watch the NBA a reason to let the WWW know (aGAIN) that they don’t watch the NBA. Because somehow that matters.
Agree, folks are missing out on some great basketball. The Mavericks/Clippers game Sunday was amazing.
Silver is as much of a snowflake as the rest of them. But his league is floundering right now and every time his players open their mouths it gets worse. For all this talk about racial justice, the almighty dollar will eventually win the day - every time.
