It's never fun to watch someone get shot. Never. But why can't people wait until the story comes out before judging the entirety of the police force on a 15-20 second video? I just don't understand why we are consistently outraged at this stuff prior to seeing anything other than a tiny snippet of what happened.

Regardless of how you feel about this article, seeing the sports media align far left or right on the political spectrum is tiring. I don’t care if it’s Olberman on the left or now Whitlock on the right. Titling an article that is nothing more than cheap click bait for those who want their biases affirmed. In 2013 Jemelle Hill and Jason Whitlock were just good sports personalities. WTF happened since then where every single offering has to be politically charged from an extremely polarizing position?

I don't know the exact time line but it appears the looting started within just a few hours after the shooting. Seems a bit disingenuous to me but whatever.

When someone with an outstanding warrant resists arrests and then reaches into their car despite repeated warnings from police officers to stop, that person getting shot is systemic racism. Plain and simple. Just like the drunk driving, child abuser who resisted arrest and then stole an officer's taser and shot at the officer. These people are just living their lives and the police are clearly murdering them in cold blood. There's really no two ways about it. **********

Lebron really is an idiot. He only has a few hundred million dollars, so he can't afford to piss off China and is actually willing to run PR interference for the Chinese communist party. I get that. MOney is more important to him than some minority in China or formerly free people in Hong Kong. Don't agree with it and I'd like to think if I were in his position, I could make do with the few hundred million (or a billion?) I had already made, but whatever.

But this is just sheer stupidity (unless China is paying him to creation division also, in which case, mortgages have to be paid I guess). This was more or less suicide by cop. If he had just jumped into his car and tried to drive off, maybe he wouldn't have gotten shot. But reaching into the car wasn't much different than pointing an unloaded gun at a cop. And it wasn't like it was a split second decision.

They don't want to wait until the full story comes out. They want to get out in front and claim that it's all about race to further divide the country. They want it to be about race so that the looters and rioters can burn down cities and assault law enforcement and innocent people while doing so

Wow, pipe bomb

“ LeBron James foolishly thinks he’s overseeing the police. He’s overseeing the black KKK. He’s promoting racism. He’s demonizing a group of white people based on the behavior of a few.

As a black man that sort of racist tactic should be terrifying. That racist tactic was used to deny us freedom in this country. No one who professes to care about the welfare of black people would adopt the tactics of white bigots.

Bigots, regardless of color, have a common trait. Ignorance”

I’ve come to accept the fact that people are going to have different viewpoints on things, and I’m at peace with those that may disagree with mine.

What continues to infuriate me about LeBron, however, is his willful ignorance. He refuses to make the slightest effort to educate himself about anything prior to jumping on social media and sending his 40 million followers an overly generalized, decisive, and oftentimes hypocritical statement. He’s convinced himself that he’s leading, yet all he does is spread ignorance to those that unfortunately look up to him as a beacon of truth

I'm guessing he's been scratched off the James' family Christmas Card list.

Ask LeBron about the human abuses going on in China and you’ll get some sort of “I don’t know anything about that” response. See, that would cost him a bunch of money, so he doesn’t really care.

Hammering Lebron and the NBA on China has always been cheap. NBA wants to make more money. That’s capitalism. That’s America. They want to do business in China. Lebron wants to own an NBA team later. Getting bigger in China is good for business. No different than Apple. I wish China would not be pricks but I’m not throwing away my iPhone and refusing to profit on Apple stock because they want to do more business in China.

Lebron should say less more often. He’s proven to be not very nuanced on social issues. He often reacts emotionally immediately, which never is a good idea. Lebron is a flawed human, shocker. He also got 90 million as a teenager and it didn’t ruin his life. Never a sniff of trouble and married his Hs sweetheart instead of chasing a Kardashian. You want to disagree with Lebron on some issues, fine. I do often. But if you’re of the opinion that’s he’s a bigot communist, that’s not different than cheaply calling Trump a white supremacist.

Most people know Lebron is a damn good basketball player and a jerk- Nothing new. Guy isn't even very well liked in his profession. And none of that has to do with politics.

Nobody is asking that he bash China. But he went out of his way to run PR for them and bashed somebody that cared less about money than about people in Hong Kong.

I’m also interested in the dialogue that occurred prior to the clip. At this point, we’re all speculating some, but Blake seemed to be walking to his car with a distinct purpose, and the sudden shooting makes me think that he may have said something very specific that quickly escalated the situation.

At the end of the day, another shooting that seemingly could’ve been avoided, but also a reminder that complying with a police officer is not optional

Well, in 2013, it wasn't really a far right position to think police shouldn't be demonized for shooting someone that had already resisted arrest, wrestled with cops and managed to get free and then went and reaching for something in his vehicle.

Ran PR for the NBA*

And I didn’t agree with that. But that doesn’t make him a bigot or communist or whatever least common denominator buzz phrase you want to use.

Titling the article, “Lebron James is a bigot” is far right, not disagreeing with his point. Just as is saying Trump is a white supremacist. This isn’t hard.

In 2005 Kanye said on air GB didn’t care about black people and the country gasped. That’s was incredibly controversial. 15 years later and that’s about as mild as it gets. If you don’t see the breakdown of rhetoric in this country you’re kidding yourself.

He didn't run PR for the NBA. It wasn't a PR issue for the NBA. The issue for the NBA was managing their relationship with Nike and China. He literally ran PR for China because China was catching flak for its treatment of Hong Kong. He ran PR for China because it furthered his business interests. When he is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Early on i thought she was good. Over the last decade she’s drifted into this extreme left activist that now argues the US is Nazi Germany. Even if you didn’t like her early on, you have to have seen the shift to what she is today.

Maybe so. I remember years ago seeing her and thinking just about every take she had was terrible. Then she definitely took a woke turn.

It was absolutely a pr issue for the nba in China. That messaging was directed at the Chinese market. That message wasn’t directed at Americans. That was a beg and plea to China not to kick them out. Like when Trump compliments Putin. That’s aimed at Russia, not America and it serves a strategic purpose.

Exactly - the truth is that very, very few things should get you shot by a police officer. And other than firing a weapon at them, most of the time it starts with disobeying commands and resisting arrest.

I really hope this wasn't a cop just flying off at the handle though.

I wonder who called the cops and why. He was brandishing a knife and refused to give it up. He had a warrant for domestic abuse and sexual abuse. On who I wonder ? He got tased snd was still not cooperating. I guess if its a black guy the cops should just start ignoring all calls so they can avoid these situations. They can kill whites who resist arrest without any repercussions so im all for them simply avoiding any response to these situations in the black community

You can watch a lot of celebrity sports figures, regardless of race, change from their original persona as their bank account grows.

My question is If black people are so scared of cops, why do they refuse to cooperate in all these cases? They don't look very scared to me.

Some of them have had criminal records so that another arrest would probably lead to automatic incarceration. Or maybe they just feared that and freaked out.

Lebron is the most irresponsible superstar in history. With power comes the responsibility to be informed & put forth the effort to be informed. He does neither.

In all, the BLM movement needs more intellectuals involved. The idea that people are looking to Lebron for guidance is ridiculous
