Fine by me. Let's just play. I love the idea of allowing the students, thus a big part of the atmosphere will be salvaged.

On one hand, I agree. On the other, should we really be prioritizing the one demographic that frankly doesn’t seem to be giving a 17 about anything other than partying? Not to mention that it’s the group most likely to no show if the date/time presents the slightest inconvenience

I’m not bashing the decision here. Just looking at the other side of the coin

When I was a student, if MSU had told me I didn't matter then I certainly wouldn't believe them now when they say I do.

Will the band be there, and will it sound the same if they are all spaced 6 feet apart? And can covid virus travel through, and be expelled from, a musical instrument?

The Students are not going to be sitting together. Looks like they will be spread out. They will not be happy.

That’s my biggest issue. If you are lucky enough to go to the game, you’re *** better stay past halftime. Especially considering it’s SEC only.

The issue is if you leave students out now, they may not come back once things get back to normal. At least not at the same levels they used to. And those are also individuals you want to be future donors once they graduate and start making money.

Students need to be in the stadium, even if it's only a couple of thousand of them. I would do away with student season tickets and cap every student at three home games, that way you give as many different kids as possible the chance to experience things.

Right. By no means do I think they should be excluded altogether, but if I’ve got to make a choice over a $25k/yr donor, a player’s mom, or a student that may or may not even show up, I know who’s getting last priority.

Allocating somewhere between 10-15% of the tickets to students makes sense, and personally... I’d just make a weekly first come, first serve deal, and any tickets that remain by Friday night will then go on sale to the general public on gameday. That way, students get the first crack, but if they’re not willing to go to the effort of getting them, someone else will have the opportunity

I don't think I'd consider students to be the lucky ones at the moment. They've had their whole college experience turned upside down, and for the freshmen, their senior years of high school.

Don’t think that’s a bad idea at all.

If we play, I’d say our students are a luckier than Big 10 or PAC 12 students. As an uncle of an incoming freshman, I do feel terrible for the class of 2020.

UAT released their plan or at least a partial.
20% stadium capacity for non student fans - I think.
Approximately 20,000 fans
No on- campus tailgating.
Students that are SR’s get 40% tk allotment
JR’s 20%
FR and SO - 15% each
Graduate students- 10%
How boxes and alumni (non-students) will be allocated - again, I’m not quite sure.

Here is what I have seen from Auburn that they are doing better than any other school out there. They start preaching family from day one to freshmen. Then they offer new grads cheap season tickets to keep them coming back. Then they fund alumni associations all over the country. Meanwhile just the the adjacent to Mississippi (Alabama) capitol there isn't even a chapter for us. So we are dropping the ball there big time. Now this, letting the students in over the donors. Meanwhile Alabama has been locking out students for years for the most part in donors.

Auburn is planting big time seeds for the future, and I think it works out well for them in the long run.

Seems like 25% of 65k would go something like this

16,250 total
500 to parents
5000 to students
11,000 to top 10% of bulldog club

10% is around 1 to 1000 in BDC
11,000 divided by 1000 is 11 tickets each
I’m in the top 1000 and we aren’t doing 11 tickets this year.
I’m sure this is abt the same for many in the top 1000.

So you could potentially take the top 2000 and do 5 tickets each.

You could drop the students down to 3k or 4K and have some more tickets for BDC members.

Suites and high end club levels will get priority over just regular BC tickets in the stands.

11 tickets each? Do people in the top 10% normally buy that many tickets?

I would be in that top 2000 group and we buy 5 now and are planning to get 5 again this year if possible.

I'm curious how they'll do the seat assignments to socially distance people. Will there be a new "pick your seat" program online with some sort of real-time algorithm that socially distances and blocks surrounding seats as people pick? Will certain seats already be blocked, but in that case how do they account for different group sizes?

First world problems here, but the logistics of the seating arrangement is interesting to me.

I have an uncle that buys 25-30 Alabama season tickets every year. Not great seats necessarily. But yes he buys that many.

Understood but the top 1000 I speak of are those people.

I’m abt 1100 in rank and I get 8 tickets.

4 scoreboard club
4 in section 4

I’m just saying that more people than just the “elite” will be able to attend games.

Plenty of the “elite” will probably purchase less tickets this year for a number of Covid reasons (1 being they are older and more vulnerable).
