Get it on a Friday or take a couple of days off after your appointment.

I had one late yesterday afternoon and woke up feeling like hammered **** this morning. Still do not feel well as of this post. It's like the flu without the coughing or congestion. Awful.

I had shingles while at State and it made me exhausted for about two straight weeks. And itched like hell.

Yep.

Was that your first or second shot?

I had a fever after my second shot on a Saturday early last year & had to take that Monday and Tuesday off.

My 1st. I dread taking the 2nd, but as Missouri noted I've heard how bad the shingles suck. I had the chicken pox 3x when I was a kid, so I feel I definitely should.

Got shingles when I was 9 (right around my waist on the right side). Absolute misery for a week and a half. It didn't help that the liquid medicine they gave me looked like green industrial cleaner only without as good a taste.

You got chicken pox 3 times? I didn't think you could get them after you got them once. Damn, that must have really sucked. Heard pox are 10x worse when you get them as an adult.

I need to get it. I had shingles once in my early 30s, mild case. It was no fun at all.

I didn’t get them until I was in 6th grade and our doctor said it was the worst case he’d ever seen on a child. I was miserable for almost two weeks.

I had the two-shot (2 shots at least a month apart) version last year, and never felt any effect at all. A buddy of mine was pretty much like you - basically bedridden for a full day. I also never feel bad after the annual flu shot, high dose because I'm old. :)

Last time I had it I was about 9-10 I guess. It got progressively less severe each time. I made mention of it to my doctor when he said I needed the shingles shot but he didn't react as if it was abnormal.

My first wasn’t all that bad.

All I had was a sore shoulder but it got aggravated a couple days later when a friend lightly punched me right where I got the shot.

I still don’t know how I didn’t say a few curse words.

Got it at 14. Was prettymuch a pinkeye level of missed school. Loved that. I had one small rash on my back for a week or so and no real symptoms. I guess now I understand why everyone was so afraid about it, but it wasn't a thing at all for me, and I didn't understand the trepidation at the time. Ended up practicing baseball with an active shingles infection once confirmed with all my teammates and their parents that they'd had chicken pox.

Definitely get the shots. My older sister had the shingles and said it was the worst thing she ever experienced. The first shot feels like Mike Tyson punched you in the shoulder, the second shot was about half as bad. A couple of days of sore shoulders is better than two weeks of pain and no sleep.

I'm dealing with shingles right now. Tomorrow will be three weeks. I went to the Dr. and got the antiviral medicine but he did not mention anything about a shot. The rash is almost gone but it itches like crazy at night for some reason.

I had the first of two doses of the newer vaccine, Shingrix, about a week ago. Only bad reaction was a sore arm for about five days. Will get the second one in about two months. About thirteen years ago I had the original vaccine.

I had first with sore shoulder, headache for two days and slight fever during the time. Yeah two-three days really feeling out of sort. Second one I remember going home reading something and about three hours after the shot a wave of feeling really chilled, feverish, and like I was in some kind of fog. I forced myself out of chair when outside to feel sun and propped myself up at my truck and stood there at least an hour or two feeling that way. Went in took aspirin and then the FOG seemed to subside, chills when down followed by two days of ache shoulder, headache and maybe slight fever for first day.
