Another Covid test story

Heard yesterday that a local clinic got in a new shipment of test, opened up 5 and ran them through without swabbing anything.

3 of the 5 returned a positive test.

I’ve heard enough of these to make me really question so of the overall testing numbers. Now there may be as many or more false negatives but seems like a lot of test have much higher error rate than you want to see in an important test

There's a lot of horseshit about testing and the virus in general going around. Some are just too naive or ignorant to see it.

Well this was second hand from an extremely reliable source - not something I read on the message board

I get it man, and I certainly don’t want to say your friend embellished something, but I have friends that tell me things all the time that are bs.
Let’s say that it’s true. Then the tests that we have been celebrating as being the best in the world actually aren’t and the death rate is actually significantly higher than is stated.

I’m just surprised the validity of them hasn’t been the subject of news reports - either positive or negative.

Same with all the mask variants - can we not come up with a rating system or something for protection level?

Absolutely. It seems easy for a journalist to get 10 unused tests and see if they get false positives.

So a clinic got swabs and sent them in for testing, without actually swabbing anything? You mean the test results for 3 out of 5 plain unused swabs were positive?

These were some kind of the quick test you do in-house supposedly.

Just with multiple stories floating around like this you’d think some local news station would get a clinic to do some testing of a few different test and report any weird findings and if anybody could document something like that it would gain news coverage somewhee
