Couldn’t be a be a better year than 2020 to try new changes or anything outside the box! With that said, anything you would liked changed outside of this?

The NCAA will cave on this if it comes down to it. But eventually, it will happen in some form. Probably a separate NCAA division for the P5 conferences with a lot more autonomy.

If there's no season, there's no split. And right now, the season looks iffy at best.

So if this did happen, would what be a list of positives where it would benefit us? What could come of this to enhance our programs?

I don’t see this being good for the game long term, but I know others will disagree. If anything I would like to see it go the other way with an expanded playoff with G5 teams getting a few spots.

There is just something about watching a small school underdog take down a blue blood in the NCAA basketball tournament that makes the college game unique.

But I also support USM, which probably clouds my judgement somewhat.

I do think this is the right move, but I don’t think people realize that this will result in professionalizing college athletics. This is a road that will change the sport significantly including more compensation for players and more rules to improve competition among member institutions such as changes to the recruiting process.

It will be good for the players and MSU’s of the world, but expect a lot of twisted panties. Also, don’t think Alabama wants any changes. Today’s world works for them.

All of this. Well said.

This will change college football (at least in the P5) to basically a minor league football league that will complete the transition to professionalizing college sports.

Additionally, many of the "blue bloods" will resist the change. Why? They have gamed the current system. Combine that with their "relationships" with the NCAA and the fact that the NCAA is about as dirty an organization as there is and you see why most of the blue bloods wouldn't want a change.

That's what makes me think it won't happen. It would be GREAT for MSU if it did but those schools (Bama, LSU, Auburn, Clemson, and the like) will actively lobby against it and they have a lot of pull in their individual conferences. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Report from Pat Forde and Ross Dellenger. I think COVID, NIL, and future TV deals make this the perfect storm for it to happen

Is there someone who thinks whatever organization is formed after the break from the NCAA, won't have a governing body made up of member institutions?

How will that be different from what we have now?

What is the reason that what is wrong with the NCAA can't be fixed?

I'm not defending "their" decisions. I just don't think the ncaa governing bodies are some alien group imposing their ideas on colleges. It is the colleges.

Simple fix, just change the rules about 3 years to be drafted. Very few would get drafted out of high school, unless the NFL wants to create a huge minor league system like baseball.

The NFL doesn't have any interest in creating something that they already have for free.College football is their minor league system. The NFL also isn't drafting a high school kid. This is silly to even talk about.
