I specifically bought a boat with a motor under 25 hp to avoid getting one. In MS you can only get one while operating a watercraft with 25 hp or more.

I know a guy that got one about 12 years ago. Apparently Tennessee has (or had) pretty lax BUI laws. Dude James Bonded his boat about 10 yards into someone's yard at 2AM and got something like a year of probation and revocation of his boating privileges for a year and like a $500 fine. No idea what other states' laws on that are like.

I live on the coast, and I don’t know of anyone who has ever gotten one in the MS Sound. The rivers are a different story.

Generally speaking, down here, as long as you aren’t acting an *** with people hanging off the side of your boat, the marine patrol doesn’t bother you.

I’ve heard the Rez is pretty bad though.

Virtually no LE on the Rez, especially the main lake. WLFP will patrol the launch at Tommys, but thats about it. We have to police each other.

Rez Police doesn't not aggressively patrol, thank goodness.
