Cards are up to 6 positive test as of this morning. Had 2 yesterday.

It’ll be a miracle if they finish more than 15 games this season. Unless a sport can commit to a bubble, no chance they can play. I just don’t see college sports being able to pull off a bubble. I hate to say it.

1 player and 3 more staff.

Stay isolated, finish today's tests, test again tomorrow, carry on Monday with the negative players and staff.

College football ain’t happening.
On-campus tailgating ain’t happening.
At least a 10 game schedule isn’t.
We may get 2, possibly 3 weeks in.
2020 continues to SUCK!!

College football will be even harder to contain than mlb. There's more players, college life, and much more contact on the field.

stop testing and play.

or shut down life for years.

As long as we are 1) testing people without symptoms constantly and 2) shutting everything down over a few positives, then yeah we much as well shut everything down. Because the system itself is built to fail- not because sports are actually unsafe.

The one thing that does give me hope for football is the last testing guidelines I saw the NCAA put out only required testing every 90 days, unless someone had symptoms. But yeah if we are testing every players weekly and shutting down over a few positive tests, then we aren’t even giving it a chance to succeed.

Spot on. MLB system is set up to fail.

I get what you’re saying and I want sports as bad as anyone. But I don’t think you can just ignore people without symptoms. You can’t have the one without symptoms spread to someone that gets bad sick or maybe even dies, which I know is unlikely given the age and health of the players. It’s also such a bigger thing than just 1 person or 1 team. The cardinals having players test positive impacts Minnesota (the cards just played) and the Indians were going In to the same visitors locker room the cardinals just used in Minneapolis.

SWEET.

#GoCubbies

Haha trust me... you didn’t need covid for the cubs to have the upper hand this year.

Hell if a couple more players test positive for covid, then St. Louis will leave Minneapolis with more covid cases than they had hits in the series.

And I wish I could put the ** behind that.

If players come in regular contact with people who are elderly or have a prior condition, then they are well within their rights to opt out. There’s no shame in that.

But if you choose to play, you accept a certain degree of risk/responsibility. All of these players and coaches have made that choice. My contention is that the players and their families are not in markedly more danger playing the game than they would be if they were in their communities, living their normal life.

Fortunately, last I checked, the Cardinals/Brewers game tonight is still on. That is a positive. Hopefully they go through and still play.

You should absolutely test people without symptoms. This has to be the silliest argument that’s being made right now.

If I can test everyone on the team say once a day and get rapid results, then I know precisely who should be isolated and who can play. No need to do contact tracing which is the big hold up right now.

My issue isn’t so much with testing people with no symptoms. It’s that we aren’t just quarantining them, bringing someone new up from the 60 man, and continuing to roll on. We are shutting everything down at the first sign of trouble.

That’s fine if they want to test everyone all the time. But if you do that, you can’t just shut down operations at every positive, because there is no chance that can work.

If you are going to play baseball, go to a camp in Georgia, go to school in North MS, or play football there are going to be many, many cases. You can't just shut everything down when someone tests positive. You either play or you don't. There are no protocols or measures that are going to prevent a spread other than a bubble.

My view is quarantine any person with symptoms and just keep on living life. This Chinese virus is not going away. Even if we get a vaccine, this virus is here forever.

Herd immunity is the only way. The virus will burn through and run its course. About all you can do is protect the vulnerable.

Club and casino visits aren’t a good idea. As far as the Cardinals are concerned, it should come as no surprise. I wasn’t a fan of Matheny’s in game management but he did run a tight ship. The AAA guy that they have now, not so much.

i think it would be awesome if MLB said to the Cardinals and Marlins “we’re going forward with 28. See you next year.”

I hear ya, man. Truth be told, I don’t care if the Cubs ever win another game....I got to see them win it all one time, and that’s all I need.
