Eating bacon is anti-biblical but boy does it get piled up at brotherhood breakfast every 5th Sunday

Wrong! Bacon is not anti-biblical. You don't understand dispensations.

Jews were not to eat pork for doctrinal reasons. Christians are under no such laws.

Well if we are going to actually follow the Bible (which doesn't seem popular to you) you are supposed to test the spirits. If Satan says he is a christian you are to believe him or do as the Bible says and test the spirit? Come on this isn't complicated.

The Bible is the truth?
But humans decided what stories/books would even be included in the Bible. How can that then be the singular truth?

The Bible was Holy Spirit inspired, so no, humans did not just decide what stories would be included in the Bible. Do you think humans could create 66 books of history and prophecy and over thousands of years not one item can be disproved? That....is not humanly possible!

ALL christian people take the Bible literally. Some denominations do not.

There are probably some Catholics and mainline Protestants who post here who are going to take issue with that statement, but I'll leave it to them.

Do what? You can call yourself whatever you like but why even do so if you plan to throw away the foundation? Just admit that your feelings are your God and move on. I’ve never understood people wanting to try to affiliate with something they don’t believe. The historicity and accuracy of the Bible is one of the primary reasons to believe in it.

I certainly respect your position, but have a question: have you ever read the Bible and actually studied it for historical accuracy, and such? You would likely be surprised about a lot. Not saying you’d be “converted”, whatever that means, but I think that you would find the idea of Christianity based on the Bible more tenable than you might think.

There's a pretty huge gulf between "I don't take every word of the Bible literally, but I do believe the larger themes of treating others with kindness and respect" and "I don't believe any of it!!!1" and I think you can see that I, like most Christians, advocate the former and not the latter.

Books were voted out. It was people who chose what stories to include and what stories to exclude. If that isnt himans deciding, then I dont know what would be.
If your argument is that there was divine intervention and people chose those books because it was God's Will, well then there is no point in continuing the discussion since that cant ever be proven or disproven.

Speaking of not being disproved, I dont know what you are asking in your last question. Are you really claiming nothing can be disproven thats in the books? If so, i dont know what level of proof you expect. Its tough to prove and disprove much of whats been written.

Old Testament is the law and points to the messiah, Jesus. After Jesus, we live under grace, not law. Glad you're interested.

Grew up Baptist (not those snooty first Baptist though) I’ve been interested. If OT is law why do we pick and choose which ones to follow strictly? Jesus said it was cool to eat bacon but not marry a dude? Where’s the cut off?

Hope my boys look up to him and people like him. There are people in this country that will refuse to accept what he has said, but that was not an easy thing to do and I’ve got a huge amount of respect for him on multiple levels.

You literally got 4 down votes for hoping your kids look up to him. That's the mentality this nation is fighting.

Did he say that in the interview? I'm sure it was there and I must have missed it somehow.**

“Absolutely [I believe] that Black lives matter,” Isaac said. “A lot went into my decision and part of it is my thought that kneeling or wearing a black lives matter t-shirt don’t go hand in hand with supporting black lives.”

Under what authority do you get to choose?

"You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to." -CS Lewis

0/10, terrible analogy.

The Catholic Church does not condone the molestation of children. Lots of Christian denominations explicitly condone and perform same-sex marriages.

Your denomination may not, but your denomination's beliefs don't speak for other denominations. Just like I can't say "Christianity is a pro-gay marriage religion" simply because my denomination has it, people whose denomination does not can't say "Christianity is an anti-gay marriage religion." Either statement is objectively false, because Christian groups have different thoughts on the issue.

Sorry, you are confusing what a man says and what God states. 2 very different things.

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination- LEV 20:13
[h=3]And it goes all the way to the New Testament.[/h]
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.----- Romans 1:26-27

I choose not. I know my sin and know the grace which was granted me.
Just has always puzzled me when people/churches rationalize with certain sins and so vocally oppose others

I find it very hard to believe you haven't experienced serial down voters on this board yet.

Bc Christians are still sinners. The only difference between the lost and the saved are the saved sins are covered by the blood.

No... We follow the whole. It's not a pick and choose.

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. (Genesis 9:3)

That included meat... pigs... meat. pigs.... meat...

Now we move forward in time to where God did indeed remove swine for a period of time. Leviticus 11:7

Now let's move forward again.....

God commanded Peter to “kill and eat” (Acts 10:13). Peter argued with God and said that nothing impure or unclean had ever passed his lips. God's response: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

So no... not just the NT.... it was in the OT too. It was not until Moses that it was forbidden for a brief time.

Books were not voted out sir. Books were not included. Why would a book be included or not included? What was the measurement for that?

This doesnt refute my previous post. It doesn't even address my previous post, actually.
I cant figure out why you posted his comments in response to my post.

66 books took centuries to become 'the canon'. Those were chosen because they were the universally accepted books.
Other books were used before this.

People chose which books were accepted scripture and which weren't. Saying some were voted out isnt incorrect. Call it chosen instead of picked or voted if you want, its a distinction without a difference as they are all effectively the same thing.

Whether or not you or I or anyone else believes that doesn't change the fact that some Christian denominations perform gay marriages. Remember, #facts over #feelings forever.
