Do they do that? In one recent case, yes, without a doubt, and the ex-officer is sitting in prison (or jail, since he hasn't been tried yet). Since then, there no doubt been thousands of encounters where no murder happened. Perhaps another solution is for certain black folks to stop doing bad and illegal things to attract the attention of the police.

thats an extremely abbreviated list, but keep your head buried in the sand, my dude.

once biden wins, he'll be able to deputize all antifa as sworn officers and send them to occupy every state in the south. statues and flags coming down. trump doctrine says we don't need a local request or permission anymore, natch

I love MSU sports having said that my happiness or lack there of is not determined by how 18-21 perform on the field or their opinions off the field. We (me and the players/coaches) can agree or disagree and doesn't matter with me supporting them as players for MSU.

Doing that is sorta like sticking your head in the sand though - pretending the situation doesn't exist.

I didn’t say the players will be in the locker room as a way of them not being allowed to kneel so they are kept in the locker room.

They are literally not on the field during the national anthem. I’ve never been to a major college game where the players are on the field during the anthem.

College athletes are not working. They are students at public institutions of higher learning who are afforded academic freedoms, including free expression, even during extracurricular activities. Public universities are the places where free expression is supposed to be allowed the most, unlike private colleges be they liberal Oberlin or conservative Liberty, where they stifle opposing viewpoints.

ignorant of what exactly? i'm quite aware that the whole kneeling/BLM business is explicitly about the tendency for police to murder black folks with impunity. i'm also quite aware that the bulk (emphasizing bulk here as in fattest) of posters on a college football message board are opposed to this message for ~obvious reasons~

So you are ignorant, racist, and anti-fat? That's quite the trifecta you have working there.

It doesn't offend me. Im there for the ballgame. Id like it if we could all stand unified together, but I realize some people/players have a different take on things than I do and thats alright. I can respect their action as long as mutual respect is granted and they don't question those who do not kneel.

To me, the irony of kneeling in the anthem as protests, was if no one pushed back against it, then it loses its power. Protest often draw attention because of the opposing view that is angered by it.

I’ll yell at the people in concourse to pay attention bc there’s little chance I make it my seat before the anthem with how security at games is.

Each of these examples is very different. Some inexcusable, some were mistakes made by police, some had extenuating circumstances.

None of them can support a monumentally stupid and grossly dishonest statement like "cops are killing black people with impunity." There are several stories similar to this involving other races of people. Other races of people are killed more often by police than black people. Those are facts with verifiable data to support. The only thing you have is a dishonest theory based on emotion and racism.

People are missing the points:

1- It's not their personal opinion. It's them bringing it to work and putting it on display in a game where we don't want politics.
2- Not all opinions will be allowed. That translates into a freedom of speech crisis that will bring heated division in our fan base, our teams, and nation.
3- A public university can not legally do that. It means law suits.

1. Hank Williams, Jr. puts his beliefs front and center in his music and I disagree with a lot of them, but damn if I don't me some love Hank Williams, Jr music.
2. A crisis, really? To be clear, this is purely conjecture on your part. There was no mention of a pre-approved set of messages in the NCAA release.
3. A public university CAN certainly put limits on what a player does and says if they want to continue playing on the football team. I don't think you really understand the first amendment.

Here's the NCAA release on the rule change: http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources...ortunities-social-justice-statements-uniforms

it will be funny the first time some player somewhere comes out with one of those stupid blue line punisher skull thingies. it won't be prohibited by any means, but that person might set a new record for most concussions received in a half

Numerous MSU players kneel or otherwise “protest” during the national anthem if/when football starts? Are you still going to support the team?

I also read this morning that the NCAA has voted to allow teams to wear a patch on their jersey and to change their name on the back of their jersey to express their support of social issues. Curious if this is going to cause some of us to be upset and stop supporting the team.

Very interesting times we are in...

Yes, I will and be very glad I live where free expression is allowed and not punishable by law.

So, we have gone from the point of kneeling being a form of free speech that should be respected, to NOT kneeling being unacceptable, and punishable, behavior?

Agreed. My favorite college football team has a head coach that's a vocal Trump supporter. Guess what? I hope that Trump supporter wins every damn game he coaches in maroon and white because I love Mississippi State more than I hate Mike Leach's political viewpoints.

Dan and Megan Mullen supported John Kasich in 2016. I didn't suddenly melt my cowbell because they supported a Republican.

Life's too damn short guys and Mississippi State's football team spent a lot more of my life being bad than it did being good and I'm not going to waste "good" Mississippi State years worrying whether or not whether I should change the channel because some kid is going to do something I don't like while he's trying to figure out how to make a difference in the world.

you're going to have to show an annotated list of people who have been arrested for kneeling or not kneeling

posting bad words on the internet about someone is not "punishment" ya dangus

It would be prohibited unless the entire team agrees to put it on a patch. If a player wears the 2 inch patch, every player on the team that wears a patch has to wear the same patch.

The only thing that can be unique to the player is the messaging in place of their name.

As an aside, concussions aren't funny. I don't care what a kid believes, I don't wish that pain on anybody.

If it did happen I would bite my tongue and ignore it. I have too much invested in Miss State to turn my back on it. However Pro Sports I have none and they can kiss my butt.
