Not sure if you saw, but Barkley mentioned last night that he wanted to be crystal clear that just as all people have a right to kneel, anyone that chose not to do so should not be vilified. He was immediately torched on social media for being an Uncle Tom and pandering to his rich, white golfing buddies.

I’m in complete agreement with your comments, but whether it’s Brees, Barkley, or anyone else, it’s this complete inability to accept differing viewpoints that is the most frustrating to me.

Think we’ll see any support for all the cops that killed daily trying to protect us all?***

From NBA players? Nah, you've still got Lebron James out there telling the bold faced lie that cops are "slaughtering black people in the streets every day." Like I said, it's a reflection on himself and his own ignorance.

You guys are really in a tough spot. You hate black people having a voice, but want to watch them perform. If only there was an institution where they did what you wanted, but didn’t have the right to say anything else...

It is a false narrative. When 6% of the population commits over 50% of the murders and violent in the uS you are going to have more run ins with police. Simple as that.

I fully agree. We see it on this board, too. We'd all better think one way, have one opinion, or have the same set of values, or we're racist ******** that need to be canceled or worse. It's the very definition of ideological facism.

I understand both sides of the debate here but I don't see the passionate need to boycott anything. The behavior of the players is a direct reflection on themselves and their own behavior. I'm more passionate about the NBA's defense of China and refusal to call out civil rights abuses there because of the financial impact, mostly because it makes their social justice protests disingenuous. I guess ultimately, I support their right to express themselves however they feel is necessary, as long as they support someone else's right to disagree with them, and they are consistent in their outrage at atrocity (whether perceived or real) in the world.

Unfortunately, it’s not respected both ways. That’s my biggest problem with this whole movement. You either agree or you’re a racist. Drew brees is a perfect example. All he did was explain why he didn’t like the kneeling. He was labeled a racist, was told to shut the 17 up by a former teammate and had talking heads on tv calling for his retirement.

Meanwhile, the same talking head (Shannon sharpe) said it was just a misunderstanding when desean Jackson posted anti-Semitic things on twitter.

So George Floyd’s death was just what happens when you run into the police a lot?

Those POS are kneeling too. You're down to hockey

How have you not dropped hockey? Those ******** pay respect to Canada before games which is a direct insult to the infallible USofA.
Respecting Canada is worse than a silent passive protest during our great anthem!

***...mostly.

No, I don't hate black people having a voice, but I don't want to watch them (or their white team mates) play any more. They can get real jobs as far as I am concerned.

You don't want to watch blacks or whites play?
So you are basically done with sports in the US then.

You have Hispanic baseball players still and Samoan football players left.

That'll be fun to watch.**

That was just 4 cops of different races being idiots. The guys holding his legs more responsible than the guy with knee on him. He just knew he wasn’t choking him so he wasn’t gonna let anyone tell him he was hurting the guy. But yes. The more run ins you have with police the more chances for bad things to happen. Are you trying to say police brutality never happens to white people. Not to long ago kid killed by in LA by town marshal. Same time as kid shot in MO a unarmed white guy shot in SLC by a black policeman. Not hardly a word about it. So by population sure black men are shot disproportionally by police at a higher rate than whites. But by crime statistics it is disproportional the other way. Sick of people ignoring crime statistics. The killing in MN sickening. They should go to jail. Not because he was black but because he was another human.

If I buy a ticket to a broadway show, and an Asian performer gets on stage to talk about her pro-life stance for 30 minutes, would you also jump to the conclusion that an audience member hates that Asian people have voices if they were to walk out?

Maybe some posters on here do despise the sheer fact that African Americans are being heard today louder than ever, I don’t know. But at the end of the day, I think the larger opinion is simply that they’d be much better served doing it on their own time. Few want to hear about Steve Kerr’s thoughts on global warming, Marc Gasol’s view on abortion, or yes... athletes’ views on social justice when fans are spending valuable time and/or money to be entertained by a ballgame. It’s not always about race, and if leagues decide to start mixing politics with entertainment, they shouldn’t be surprised when some start walking out

Your Asian dancer example is terrible, as usual.
What NBA player is standing in front of the crowd each night for 30min and talking about the social issues that they support? That isnt happening.

NBA players get their message out through social media(where you can choose to read or not) and interviews in traditional media like print and TV(where you can choose to see or not).
Players are contractually required to be available for interviews and some chooe to use that platform to speak about things they are passionate about.

None of thst is even close to your dancer hiding the audience hostage for 30min of social issue talk.

Another good point by drebin.**

Nobody is persecuting you for your ignorant views just like nobody is persecuting me for my ignorant views. No need to be so dramatic.
