It's official 10 game SEC schedule starts 9/26.

Saban is injecting live virus into his team currently. Get them infected and healthy by end of September. Can't risk having any players miss a game...

How disgusting is it that I really want to see him have to deal with a few players miss a big game with asymptomatic Covid19? I don't want anyone to get sick and would prefer it just peter out.... But I really want to see Saban lose a big game from something completely out of his control.

So, looks like no rescheduling for games that have to be cancelled. I still think this is very optimistic.

I’m a little bummed at no non conference games and starting so late tbh.

Another two months before SEC football. That blows dick

I think the late start date is good for State and Ole Miss. One would think they’ll allow both schools additional practice time. With the completely new staffs, those extra weeks could easily be the difference in an early win versus loss.

Predictably, the article acknowledges Auburn's game against North Carolina, but omits State's game against NC State.

Not sure if that's a bigger knock on us or NC State, tbh.

No matter how they set it up I am all in. Football is back, maybe not like normal or how some might like to see it done, but it is back. To steal a line from Aretha “I am just so damn happy”.

I've heard that we keep our existing conference schedule as is and just add the new opponents.

Especially with the NCAA report saying "If an athlete tests positive, they must quarantine for 10 days and cannot return until at least three days have passed with any symptoms being present. Any player said to have been in “high risk” contact with an athlete that tests positive, will also have to quarantine for 14 days. That is a mandatory rule."

With Larry Tinkle in charge of scheduling, no wonder we get the worst of it.

From SEC Rant:

Using divisional rankings by the media (not perfect but better than nothing), the following schedule all puts each teams 4 team cross-divisional schedule "average" rank between 3.5-4.5 roughly.

Alabama
vs Georgia (1)
@ Tennessee (3)
vs Missouri (6)
@ Kentucky (4)
Average : 3.5

Auburn
@ Georgia (1)
vs Kentucky (4)
vs Vanderbilt (7)
@ South Carolina (5)
Average : 4.3

LSU
@ Florida (1)
vs South Carolina (5)
vs Tennessee (3)
@ Missouri (6)
Average : 3.8

Ole Miss
@ Vanderbilt (7)
vs Florida (1)
vs Kentucky (4)
@ Georgia (1)
Average : 3.3

Arkansas
@ Missouri (6)
vs Tennessee (3)
vs Georgia (1)
@ Vanderbilt (7)
Average : 4.3

Mississippi St
@ Kentucky (4)
vs Missouri (6)
vs South Carolina (5)
@ Florida (1)
Average : 4.5

Texas A&M
@ South Carolina (5)
vs Vanderbilt (7)
vs Florida (1)
@ Tennessee (3)
Average : 4.0

So why not start on time and have more bye weeks?

My biggest issue with the start pushed back a month is campus opens back up in a couple of weeks. There will inevitably be some case spikes on the college campuses soon thereafter.

What is the response when this happens? Do teams keep going, or will they shut it down like the Phillies every time there is a positive test?

Anyone who looks at the data objectively knows that playing the game of football itself is far more dangerous to the players’ health than the actual virus. But will schools bow down to the media pressure and fear of liability?

Turns out, I forgot to only count 10 Saturdays instead of 12, so there will be 2 open weeks to make up games. That won't be enough though. Cause if a player tests positive, there's gonna be a LOT of teammates who have had "high risk" contact with him, and potentially some from last Saturday's opponents as well.

I suspect they're starting the season as early as they think they can.

There is already an NCAA rule on this its a 14 day quarantine for a positive test.

That's why they are pushing it back, and why the ACC has the Champ game being best winning % ( which means the pirate will win our 1st then have whole team positive tests the next 9 weeks***)

Only if you have the same buy week as the team you had to delay...

I can't speak to any other school. But I know for a fact Alabama's players have been practicing off campus without coaches for months. Odds are they have all had it.
imagine it's the same for every team.

I kind of am too. But those early September games where somebody cramps up every other play are the ones we lose. So that makes it better.
