Probably not. Total guess here, but that sounds like the same song in my area. It's not the number of rooms and beds, it's ICU units and the trained staff that's needed to use them effectively.

So what your saying is people don’t listen to “major news outlets” like at all. Who’s fault is that?

Tater and Dobbs are idiots. But damn, Jackson has had a mask order in place for weeks and it's done nothing.

I don’t think it’s a good assumption to think everyone is a Jackson hospital is from Jackson or even the metro area.

He's saying they eliminated the overflow plan. They had it all set up (like many hospitals) and eliminated it.

Typical UMC. And what happened to all of those ventilators that they made out of stuff from Lowe's or wherever that they were bragging about 3-4 months ago?

Question, UMC is full, but River Oaks/Women's (whatever it is called) is setting virtually empty on Flowood, can some of those patients not be transferred? Is it that the level of care that can be provided at River Oaks not match up with what is needed?

I've been in the ICU at River Oaks and it has been awhile but unless it has changed it was only a few beds and this was ten years ago. So unless they undergo a major renovation program they don't have the capability.

UMMC is always full, and it can be difficult to transfer patients on good days. They were having these same issues pre-Covid, but they're worried about dumping Covid on top of what they already get. That would legitimately cause them to exceed capacity if they weren't cancelling elective surgeries. The health infrastructure in this state is not great at baseline, so it's a legitimate concern. There are places in the Delta that don't even have a pediatrician or an primary care MD in a 100 mile radius.

Why did you have to take it down?

I’m guessing because they were tired of paying for it? Yes, at UMC. In its place now simply stands a VIP setup for drive thru covid testing

Probably not, its more about the staff than the space.
