Go to Greenwood and try the ones at Crystal Grill.
Great tamales.
And speaking of tamales, anyone ever do the “Tamale Trail” ?
Just drive thru the Delta and stop at every place that sells hot tamales.
After about 3-4 stops tho I’m full of tamales.

Alright I had 1/2 dozen from Sho-Nuff, 1/2 dozen from Heaven and after that decided to ride over and get 1/2 dozen from Doe's. To be honest none were great. If I had to rate I'd go Heaven #1 - large tamales with the spice coming on the backend. It's a toss up between the other two. Sho-Nuff - small! very little beef in the tamales...spice early on but not great. Doe's - positive - these had the most beef of all the tamales but they were wrapped in paper....wtf? Never had tamales not wrapped in corn husk...might have taken away from the flavor. I like a little more spice/flavor with tamales and none of these really had that. Best part of evening were the 4 GA Peach hefeweizens I had. Great summer brew...

I haven't had Doe's tamales (i don't see the appeal of a tamale), but in my opinion, Doe's steaks are vastly overrated.

Good info. I see the paper "husk" more and more. Supposedly it doesn't impact the product. Kinda like a synthetic cork in a wine bottle.

Don't know about Sho-nuff, but Willie Harmon owns Hot Tamale Heaven and makes the ones you eat at Doe's, Crystal Grill, Honest Abe's, Shipley's and most of the other restaurants such as these throughout the delta and even at Little Dooey and restaurants in Oxford. If you prefer one restaurant over another, it's because of how they make their juice because the tamales are exactly the same.

Does anyone know if the White Front Cafe is still standing up the road in Rosedale? That place used to have the best tamales but you had to get there early because they shut down when they sold out.

Mark Azlin's recipe. Local grocery stores sold them up until a couple years ago, but I think he's completely out of the business now.

Well I can tell you that the ones that Willie makes for Doe's are complete different than the ones he make for Hot Tamale Heaven....never had Tamale's like the ones last night from Doe's. Not a fan of the tamales wrapped in paper.
