Looks like we will at least have accurate data on hospitalizations. DHHS has hired an outside firm to track all of the data instead of the CDC. While I appreciate the "effort" of public employees, from my experience, a private company is going to make this simple and accurate.... I am thinking about all the times I have been standing in line at the post office and right when I get to the window the old nag closes the window on me and leaves without saying a word. For 30+ years the grocery store has light flash and go off letting you know the cashier is going on break and not to get in this line.

Government and efficiency don’t go together. This is a great move.

It will be a good move ONLY if said data remains readily available and transparent. I hope that is what will happen. It has also been speculated that this is an attempt by the present occupant of the White House to squelch data and to approve releasing only the data that puts them in a favorable light.

Seems like it would be easier to squash the data at the CDC. If that speculation turns out to be the case then 17 a duck. We can't do anything.

Trump has been an enormous hindrance in the response to this. I voted for Trump last time but this time I don't know. I cant vote for Biden for sure. I may be writing in Reagan's name. I've done it before.

It's also going to matter whether they give it to somebody based on competence or whether it's a big government contract to reward somebody politically connected like say the Obamacare exchange websites.

Shmuley is producing a write-in list so we can form the SPS Party. All conventions must be held in blue tents. That will be the first by-law.

So bypass the system used to track all reportable diseases for years, and instead send data straight to a new untested data system that isn’t open to the public, cuts out our public health agency, and is directly under the control of HHS and the WH. Sounds legit.

And to a point in the OP, in many federal agencies, a significant number of employees are contractors with a few FTE managers. In some places 70% are contractors. I am not sure about this division of CDC, but chances are very good that data tracking moved from 1 group of contractors at CDC to another group of contractors In Washington, not from FTE to contractors.

True that. Might be a good idea to check into this company and its' shareholders and/or corporate organization.

The fact is that if the data says 'x' the people who want it to say 'y' will scream it's being manipulated. Florida has already cooked their books once.

This virus is getting worse now and I no longer need data to see it.I have 4 employees have to be tested in the last day after only having 3 in the past 4 months before that. We are wearing masks, keeping social distance and sanitizing 2 times a day at our workplace, but it seems nothing is going to keep us from getting it.

School coming back in a month and that is what frightens me the most about Oktibbeha county and our medical facilities.

99.96% survival rate.

That survival rate is pretty sucky if you apply it to everyone in the world. The virus is dangerous because it is extremely contagious. Also, death isn't the only long term complication from infection.

If you don't get this by now, you just don't want to.

Why would you apply the survival rate of everyone in the world, since we live in the USA? A lot of the world is impoverished, have little to no health care resources, and crap in public (which means they don't wash their hands frequently).

The survival rate in the USA is 99.96% is a true statement. Why attack that statement and the person who wrote it?

Yes, there are long-term implications. Does this mean that we should shut everything down? Put small business (and the lifetime of saving and work that this represents) in bankruptcy? If you want to shelter in place, by all means do so. But give people the freedom to make that choice.

Take a look at what is going on in the USA now... Layoffs everywhere, we are definitely headed into a major recession... Meanwhile, state and city leaders are shutting down the ability of citizens to save their financial lives, but permit rioting/looting/peaceful protests.

If YOU don't get it by now, you just don't want to....

If you live in MS, it doesn’t matter who you vote for. We all know who’s picking up those 6 electoral votes.
