Looking through the guidelines from the NFHS that the MHSAA is utilizing, and there are some doozies in here.- All students must bring their own water bottle.- These water bottles cannot be shared.- Hydration stations (water cows, water trough, etc.) should not be utilized.— Tyler Cleveland (@TylerCleveland) July 15, 2020

- Social distancing (as required by state health department) will need to be maintained on buses/vans.- Appropriate social distancing will need to be maintained on sidelines/bench during contests and events. (Consider using tape or paint as a guide for students and coaches.)— Tyler Cleveland (@TylerCleveland) July 15, 2020

Social distance in the bus on the way to the game, but make sure to wrap up on the tackle. I’m not sure if the people making some of these guidelines are intentionally being contradictory or if they are just stupid. If they believe these kids are spreading the disease, why play at all? If they are not spreading the disease, why have restrictions?

Just cancel it. This crap is ridiculous. Do people really think these idiotic measures will work? Where are the adults, seriously?

Because we’re not going to play
And with several southern states starting schools with an abbreviated schedule, I envision us doing the same, just as usual, Tate will be the last one to do so

So no water hoses connected to PVC pipes with holes punched through them?

Miss those days. Speaking as a coach the water bottle thing has been hard to get use to. I just made it simple for my position group. 15 lineman, 3 bottle racks numbered with each player assigned a number. I bought them new and sanitize the bottles after each practice, that has been so much easier than depending on kids to keep up with anything.

We’re not even allowed to fill up the water for them, they have to bring it from their homes.

Tate personifies MS like Trump personifies the US.

We Mississippians are more often than not the last ones to do anything, which stands to reason given that we are the most conservative state in the country.

The adults are sitting here saying play if...

you don't have any underlying health conditions and don't live with anyone who does, because the risk to you is much smaller than several other things you encounter daily.
When you're around the old guys that coach you or in a setting that doesn't require physical contact (like lining up in the trenches during practice), wear a mask and socially distance if you can.

We are not suppose to fill them up, but I figured I would do a better job keeping things clean and together as opposed to them. We have been clearing them with temps, I know that may not be the best but is all we got. We have parents and local businesses donating water by the cases, and they want us to fill the bottles with that. My mornings start with icing down bottles, with the water from the donated cases poured in. It is nuts, but I just want to see my kids get to play ball again. We were doing offensive install this morning, and it just felt so good to get to see my two seniors up front getting back to something close to normal. So, I will try my best to follow whatever stupid rules they can come up with for that reason.

Those will never be followed. How the hell a kid going to refill their water bottles if they play both ways? Who is going to take it to them on the field? Just stupid..

You're coming after the wrong guy.

I want what you want. But if you're going to put into place all these idiotic restrictions (that don't make a ****), you're just asking for failure. Whatever costs you recoup by having football will go to pay for all the dumb restrictions.

Going by our 'experts' and their recommendations, playing football is just not practical.

Keep in mind I do not agree with the experts' approach to, well, any of this.

We’ve been doing instal since the middle of June, but with the way **** is it still feels like week one. The has been the most frustrating off season we’ve had, but I’ve been able to teach more fundamentals that I have in a while.

Two seniors??? Are you coaching at a 1-A private school? Not hating, because I've been there and done that. Just seems like a very small senior class. Senior night won't take long, unless you have 14 senior cheerleaders.
