I watched a segment on Tucker Carlson last night where he interviewed Sessions. Let’s just say it was less than flattering. If Tuberville wins I guess they’ll hafta tote him out of the Senate in a pinebox.

If the House offers him a bigger stage and more money he will be gone the next day.

Session did say one thing wrong. He said Tumberville has on been in Alabama for a few years and don't know Alabama. My first thought was he has been there since 1998. I would bet my last nickel he's been to more cities in that state than Sessions.

I am not taking sides. I don't have a dog in the hunt. The winner will probably be the next Senator from Alabama.

Well Tuberville will fit in well with the Senate, he has a nice little securities fraud scandal in his background.

My prediction is he will try to pass some big legislation over his first few years and will never quite get it done.... Then Jay Jacobs will spearhead an effort to recall Senator Wingnut and replace him with Gene Chizik to close the deal.

What he's saying is that Tuberville is not native to the area. He's only lived there as a football coach. He lived (and voted) in Florida in 2018. He's being somewhat opportunist. Why isn't he running in Ohio, since he coached at Cincinnati, or Texas, since he coached at Texas Tech?

I'm not taking a side because I don't know who would be the better senator. Tuberville is an opportunistic carpetbagger with some baggage in his business dealings and no record, while Sessions is a flawed candidate who fell out of favor with the President.

What I dont understand about a guy like Sessions or a Pelosi, e.g., is: when you're that old and have money like that, what could possibly move you to run for office again? Why not hang out on your yacht and spend time with family and grandchildren? How could being in Congress be more relaxing than retirement? Than having a dram of scotch after ingesting an edible? It's just incredible to me. Hell I want to retire from full time work at 55 and work at my leisure afterwords if it is even in the realm of possibility. Different priorities I guess.

It's very similar to the Hillary situation when she became senator from NY. Pretty sure she'd never lived there before she ran for the senate.

Back to the subject though - Alabama has trouble getting competent people to run for office. When your choice is Tubberville or Sessions, you don't have much choice. Look at our governor - I have no idea how she ever got elected. Locally, we have so pretty good guys but they can't carry the state.

He lived here when he coached at Auburn, but not sure before or after that time. Sessions claims Tubs lives in Florida now, but I have no idea where he lives. I guess we could always vote for Doug Jones again ....

This is the problem with our entire country. People who legitimately would be great as elected officials don’t want to be thrown to the wolves like Kavanaugh was. Dirt is dug up and if it isn’t found, it will be fabricated to the cheapest victim.

Headline in 2024. “President Pro-Tempore of the Senate confirms Senator Tubberville has resigned his position and will be leaving the US Senate for the Chinese Politiburo.”

That's most likely true but he probably should have specified being on a prime time national show. I suspect mostly only Alabama folks who would know that but a lot of people like me who knew he coach in that state for a long period of time did not know he moved. .
