Wow.
"District 4 Supervisor Chad McLarty said he had numerous conversations with African American friends of his and constituents in his district, but he did not have a conversation with any of them where they stated that “the monument was an issue to them.”“I myself have been a victim of racism due to the color of my skin,” McLarty said. “I’ve also been a victim of police brutality. What I do know is there are a lot of bad people in this world, and no matter how many statues, flags or pancake boxes you take down, they will still exist."

A lot of you simpletons on this board let your hatred of all things Ole Miss cloud your judgement on matters more important than the Egg Bowl rivalry. It’s sad really.
I love watching Ole Miss and their fans do bonehead things and enjoy rubbing it in their faces when they fail, but at the same time I will still respect the history of each of our Mississippi towns and those municipalities right to govern themselves.
This totalitarian wave of erasing history must come to end. If there are no reminders of the past we will repeat the same mistakes. I’m glad to see some leaders around this state still have the testicular fortitude to stand up to the regressive progressives.

Unpopular opinion for some to hear... Mississippi needs less brain drain and more transplants.

Isn't his job with Oxford Utilities a conflict of interest with owning a construction company that could easily deal with utility placement?

I’ve never understood this argument. Repeat the same mistakes? People think that, without these statues as reminders, we’ll suddenly think that secession and bringing back slavery are good and viable ideas in the 21st century, and try to do both again? It’s just an absurd position to take in any respect. The idea that we need to keep the statues as ribbons of shame also makes no sense. Does Germany still have swastikas plastered everywhere to “remind them not to make the same mistakes”?
Erasing history is clearly bad. But removing Confederate statues from public squares should have happened a long time ago. It's history, but we don't need to be honoring that war.
What would you say are her bigger blunders?Tannehill has had a couple of major 17ups in her time in office. And if she’d handled this situation and a few others with the county a little better the statue thing might be going more smoothly.
