Nitpick: the flower is all wrong. Magnolia blooms have rounded petals with heart-shaped points. Also the magnolia leaves are bigger in relation to the bloom and are a lot less uniform. Looks more like a camellia flower. I understand artistic license, but it comes off more like a logo than a flag. Also it could stand to be bigger on the background field - but it’s not a deal-breaker.

Those suck compared to chillbilly. The river one is way too busy, the this flower one looks nothing like a magnolia.

The only thing the designers who are approached by the committee should be told is this.....This is the definitive book of Confederate flags, and I'm sure there is one out there, (hand them one) your design can not remotely resemble anything in this book. Personally I'd love to see a Walter Anderson work adapted to serve as the flag. I have no idea what his views on race were, and who cares. He was absolutely crazy as a road lizard, but his art is unique. I love it, and it is beyond doubt Mississippi. It would totally stand out among state flags...ANY flags actually. My personal favorite is "Road to Oldfields" but I'd go along with any of it.

By the way, if you have never been to WAMA and the Ocean Springs Community Center do yourself a favor and make the trip to see it. The murals in the Community Center and especially the Little Room are quite simply stunning. I've been to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the Vatican Museum, WAMA tops them both to me. The Little Room is awe inspiring.

First off, thank you for all the work you have put into this. It is appreciated.

On to your point about green reminding you over 2 countries:
Every time I started a new version, I swear I made the field green (agriculture)... but I always changed it bc it reminded me of Brazil or Jamaica.

If you look at the other states' flags, literally half of them have a blue background while only 1 other has a green background. I'm afraid another blue flag would just be lost in this unrecognizable shuffle.

Thx for the heads up! I just went on there and called him out. Had to start an account but it was worth it. Thx again.

— he’s really really really taking credit too. Funny read.

Here's what you take away from that loser. Before he deleted it, it had a 96% approval. That was the highest of any proposed Mississippi flag on Reddit.

Combine that with 21/1 Upvotes on my original post here - you have a winner!!!!!

The problem is that guy from Dallas' design is lighting up social media. Jackson news station did an interview with him.

You are killing it in the sports world - Ole Miss fans as well. But the greater masses like this garbage. We need to push yours as Mississippi Made for a Mississippi Moment.

Ive seen this one floating around and people seem to like the simplicity of the magnolia.

The flower on this one looks like a floral pattern on swim trunks.

I think the Maroon recolor would look more 'State-centric' if we recolor the green leaves and yellow carpels to the 'Dark Grey' support color #777777.

mangolia petals aren’t pointed. The flower really needs a tweek but the concept is nice. The emblem also needs to be bigger. Look at the proportions on Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, Nebraska, Virginia, etc.

The more I look those pointy white petals start to look like something else. Try rounding them like a true magnolia.
