I just cancelled YouTube tv. I had the membership paused because we literally weren’t even opening the app with no sports but I’ll go to Hulu or sling when sports come back. Why they can’t offer a tiered system is crazy to me

we've had Hulu Live for over a year. i love it. our cable plus internet with Xfinity had gotten close the $300. with Hulu and the internets, its around $110. Hulu Live has all the channels i need. MSU typically plays on an ESPN channel, with Hulu you get ESPN app access. works great.

Dang, that’s quite a hike and frankly a tough pill to swallow when it’s during a time when you’re not getting near the content that you signed up for. Compared to what we were paying for satellite, $65/mo is still a bargain, but I don’t know that there’s really a standout front runner any longer when it comes streaming options. I wonder if/when they’ll start including some incentives like premium channel freebies in order to attract people to one over the other

I've had YouTubeTV for a few months now, and I really only open it for FoxNews and my DVR is essentially Tucker Carlson. My DVR might expand when the fall starts, as when I had DirecTV I filled up the DVR with a huge amount of movies and shows (that I rarely went back and watched). I rarely watch other tv channels and don't scan all the channels to see whatever is on right now like I did with DirecTV.

Mostly I watch different series on Amazon Prime/Netflix/etc instead of scanning the channels.

I did recently add HBO Max to YouTubeTV but I don't like how they've integrated it almost seamlessly (I use Roku so no HBO Max app). I'd rather just tune to an HBO app and look for stuff than have to search all of YouTubeTV to find HBO movies and shows.

When sports starts back up I'll revisit my options. I'll keep YouTubeTV if the only difference from Hulu Live is $10/month.

I'd go for something bare bones and cheaper I could get FoxNews and college football and a premium movie channel.

So Hulu or YouTube TV are the way to go for Sports and HBO?

Go direct with HBO. HBOMax is the same price and offers more programs.

ETA: check with your internet provider. I’m getting HBOMax free as an AT&T reward.

One of the reasons I originally chose YouTube TV was the support for my local channels. At the time, I couldn't find a user friendly and inexpensive way to record local programming off the antenna. For those that use the antenna for locals, what do you use for a DVR?

I just negotiated a 2 year deal with Comcast for $124/mo cable and internet. My last 2 years with them was roughly the same price. Includes the X1 HD box but one user only. I get ESPN 1 & 2 but no espnu or news. But do get all the other sports channels including the Golf Channel. And they recently added the Peacock App which includes a lot of programing for free. It doesn't include the 200 plus channels some packages have but has everything I'm interested in. Yours probably had a lot of addons for $300. But I'm happy as I have stable service unlike some of the packages I tried when I did the cord cutting thing.

Same here, getting it free for life with AT&T Internet. No Roku app yet, but everyone seems to think it's coming soon.

This is what I want to do but I fear Comcast will throttle my internet (that I would keep with them). Did that happen to you?

Switched to YouTube TV in February because DirecTV kept pissing me off. I absolutely loved it during basketball season, then of course COVID hit and that changed things big time. I was saving money on it when I switched over from Direct but now it'll be about the same price I was paying with Direct. Granted, I do really like the portability you get with YoutubeTV (I can watch on my phone or iPad very easily) and it interfaces well with other apps (if you have HBO Max you can watch it within the YoutubeTV app). Don't have any smart TVs for now, so I'm currently running it through my PS4 in one room and a Fire Stick in the other room.

I will probably still keep YoutubeTV. Sports will be back soon and we have used it a good bit to record movies, and you have unlimited storage space on the DVR. I'm not sure $10-15 a month is worth switching to another service that I may not like as much, and I don't really want to go back to the hassle of dealing with cable companies again.

Can you use YoutubeTV in more than one location? For instance; my house at home and condo in Starkville? Hulu Live doesn't seem to let you unless you change your "home location".

Yes, 3 concurrent streams. 5 sub accounts with 3 concurrent streams. My kids watch my YouTubeTv from their homes.

I’ve looked into this before I got YouTubeTV and I was going to get the Amazon Fire Recast. It’s an OTA DVR.

I just know I have youtube music (after Google Play Music has gone kaput) and it will randomly stop listening from our single stream when there's no other device connected. Very frustrating.

Well Told Directv a few months ago I was cancelling after being a member from their beginning. Seems it works every year except this year they caled my bluff up until the last week of cancellation. Reduced my bill under $50, I have the sports package but didn't have any of the movie channels. They gave me 3 months free for all, told me I had to cancel to not get charge before the expiration date. Well I did a week before, no I got a bill for last month under $30 but will have the under$50 for about 8 more months.
Directv has many advantages and can be a pain the the *** about cost, but as long as I have been a member change becomes harder.
Good luck to all, seems Directv is like the stock market, up and down but in the long run pays dividend or at least for me!

My daughter uses my YoutubeTV at her apartment at school. Has her on sub account with it's own DVR. She can customize channels as well and hide the stuff she doesn't watch. I can hide all the Disney and kid stuff I don't watch.

We use it on vacation as well via a Roku. No need to switch locations or anything like that. If you watch on your phone or tablet away from your usual local area, it will automatically use your location to give you locals where you are viewing. Nice little feature on the road to watch local news.

I love Youtube TV and even with the $15 bump it is cheaper than what I was paying for DirecTV (Genie and 3 clients plus same channels). The only channel YoutubeTV doesn't have after this update, that I care about, is the History Channel. I will keep Philo for that ($20 a month, was using it for History, Paramount, MTV, and a few others that Youtube picked up)

Lastly, you can watch Regular Youtube originals, like Cobra Kai with a YoutubeTV subscription as well.

All total Internet, YoutubeTV, and Philo I'm at $165 a month. I was more than that at one time with DirecTV not counting internet.

YouTubeTV adapts to where you are watching it. If watching on an Apple TV device, it uses your home location for locals.

Best thing about YouTubeTV, the ability to "visit (or even move to) another location", for the purpose of Local Channels/Regional Sports networks, simply by spoofing your location in your computer's Chrome Browser (Using the Location Guard browser extension. https://www.techjunkie.com/change-location-youtube-tv/). This comes in handy, during NFL season, and blackouts are a plenty...

I have DirectTV bundled with Century Link 1G Fiber and we pay $300 a month. I need to call and get a price drop from DTV or go to streaming. I think I can get it under $200 with streaming instead of Direct TV.

So I've had YouTube TV, Hulu, Sling and DirecTVs version....liked Hulu the best except for the extra $10-$15 per month for "no commercials" wife was pissed every time she had to watch commercials during The Bachelor she reminded me we were paying extra to not watch commercials.

Hulu price hike a few months ago drove me to YouTube TV, I feel like it's a little glitchy but still does the job. Around the holidays the wife likes to watch Hallmark movies so I have to fork over an extra $20 for the month to get Hallmark on another service called Philo.

Paying Comcast $98 per month for "blast internet", YouTube TV was around $50, and throw in Netflix for around $15, so total for TV is around $165.

Pissed me off when I read about the YouTube thing this morning so just went to Comcast website and got a quote. $100 per month for internet and TV (with more channels) locked in for 24 months, free DIY install. Put everything in the cart where they tack on all the taxes and fees and grand total came out to $165 per month......

So now the question is do I go back to terrible customer service and the beast that is Comcast or keep doing what I'm doing and paying that extra $20 per month in December for Hallmark (which is part of the Comcast plan).

Also, quoted a new internet price with AT&T but their customer service number was a disaster and another story....

It’s over.
There is no cord cutting anymore.
You might can save with sling but that’s about it.
I’ve had YouTube TV since it started and have loved it. Bastards. They’ve got me.
I’m tired of jumping around to try the new thing to save a couple bucks .
They’ve won

Get an over-the-air antenna for locals in digital, and get Pluto TV (free).

All you pay is Internet that is fast enough to stream the Pluto. For me, I pay C-spire $80/month.

I'll go back to YTTV if there is a football season, because I can do ESPN stream on the Samsung TV

I love youtube TV, but I will be cancelling just because they are jacking up the price too quickly for content I didn't ask for. If people are requesting MTV and other viacom channels, then offer a pay tier for them. It aint that hard, otherwise leave it alone. When I started at $35, it was a great, sports heavy option. Now, it is too expensive. Also, I rarely go back and watch what I record, so that is not a plus for me. I will cancel it and if sports ever come back, I will prolly go with sling at $30/month espn package.

I don't know man. I'm as irritated by the price hike as the next guy, but I think people are losing sight of the fact that at an avg price of $60-70/mo for most streaming services these days, that's still like half of what a typical cable/satellite bill costs for a pretty standard package once promotions run out. On top of that, you have a whole lot of added flexibility by being about to watch your account from pretty much anywhere and on any device.

Back when I cancelled DirectTV about a year ago, I had a mid-tier package with zero frills and two TVs hooked up, and it was right abound $130/mo for it. When I called to see what they could do, they offered 3 mos of premium and a $10/mo discount for 6 months. That was they best they could do, and I told them I'd be returning my equipment that day.
