Anybody else noticing. We've had intermittent light rain today in Madison and it has really settled on my truck.

Good lord. Went out to my car 1/2 hour ago & thought they’d been sandblasting in my parking lot.

Spent a couple weeks in Ghana several years back and it was crazy how thick it would get there on certain days.Maybe not as thick as that above picture but pretty close!

Damn! Just my luck, I have two tennis matches scheduled this weekend. I'll probably be on a ventilator by Monday. Actually, I'm probably going to wind up cancelling Sunday afternoon, whether the opposing captain agrees or not.

I think it's kind of interesting to think about dust coming across the world but if you ever mow the lawn in a few spots with sparse grass or plow a garden, etc, is the light dust really a big deal? I've seen people literally concerned about air quality. Do these people ever go outside on a regular basis ?..... as for dust on vehicles , maybe I don't wash mine often enough ...

This is one of the dumbest comparisons ever. The dust cloud from the mower quickly dissipates. The dust clouds from Africa won't dissipate for days. You comparison is like saying every day, we eat/drink about 20 micrograms of arsenic, and we're fine. So, if I eat 100 milligrams of it, I should be fine too. Of course, it's not really that drastic. We'll be fine. But air quality will be an issue for the next few days.

Meh. Worked outside all day the last two days. No different than normal if you are a healthy human being with no underlying respiratory conditions. Big to do about nothing.

The Saharan dust layer is primarily suspended several thousand feet in the air so not much risk to breathe in. The rain is settling some down to the surface. Just weird when you think that the dust on your car was in an African desert just a week or so ago.

It must not have reached us yet. No dust on cars and it rained several times yesterday. Couldn't tell anything about sunset because the sky was cloudy.

Oddly enough, the dust is supposed to supress thunderstorms, but there were at least two tornado warnings late yesterday afternoon in southern Cullman County. We had no thunder here, but heavy showers at times.

There was an outflow boundary set up from earlier storms those interacted with. Provided just enough shear in the atmosphere to produce a couple weak tornadoes.
