Remember when our honorable elected officials sold off all their stock after finding out how bad covid would be all while telling us regular people that all is well and invested in companies such as those that sold telemeeting software? The senate ethics committee did a thorough investigation and determined they did nothing wrong.
Protesters, don’t miss this one.

Democrats were involved too. Won't be touched.

They all did it. Not just dems or repubs. I’d be shocked if any member of the ethics committee didn't do the same in some form or fashion. The ones we didn’t hear about were just smart enough to not get caught.

Both sides got in on the stimulus loans as well. They're all a bunch of greedy bastards. The stink on that will be short lived just like with the corona stock dump. They work well together when both sides are dirty of the same thing.

This is why all of them hate Trump. It's a club. Both Reps and Dems are members of that same club with the same unwritten rules. When you go to Washington you join and you better obey the rules. Trump does not. Trump is not part of the club and he doesn't want to be part of the club. Both parties pander to their base but never do what they say they are going to do. Everyone in the club understands this. It's all lip service to get votes and raise money. When the Democrats have the House, Senate and White House they do nothing. Then when the Republicans get the three the Democrats say what they are going to do if you vote them back in and when you do they do nothing. The Republicans are the same way. The never Trumpers are so full of **** it's crazy. I have more respect for Hillary than I do them. For 20 years they preach what they were going to do, never do it and when Trump does it they criticizes him. It is all crazy! Washington DC is just plain ****** up. I am sick of them all.

I'm currently listening to Dan Carlin's "Death Throes of the Republic" about the fall of the Roman Republic before it's Imperial stage & SOME of the similarities are striking.

The elites (Senate) want the status quo to remain while the Tribunes eloquently dangle empty promises to the populace in order to gain what the elites have.

Neither side truly has us plebes in mind.

Crossing the Rubicon never ends well, however.

Copied from somewhere else, but I find these stages pretty interesting.

“According to Lord Tytler, a Scottish Historian, the average age of the world's democracies is around 200 years. After two hundred years, the nations collapse due to various economic policies and be followed by a dictatorship. Lord Tytler identified "Eight Stages of a Democracy", from beginning to end. The eight stages go from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence, and finally from dependence back to bondage. Life and our universe moves in cycles, and history is no different. So, in our Democratic form of a Republic, which stage do you suppose we are in?”

once the the general public realizes they can vote in politicians that will give them “free money” democracy is over.

When that population outnumbers the ones that are working to earn a living, our society will begin to collapse. May not be in my lifetime but it will happen sooner or later.

We’re well into apathy and almost dependence. See the covid shutdown and begging the govt to give us a check to get by while they were the ones who said we’re not allowed to go to work to earn a living.

Sell the utopia free from racism, bigotry, and hatred and gain the power. If only you will vote a certain way we will work to create the utopia and free you from the bondage of this awful world.

Take individual incidents and apply them to a whole organization “police” and claim everyone who keeps law and order is racist. Create chaos.

Some of you bite the “company line” hook, line, and sinker. Others of you see it like I do, a ploy to win votes, gain power, take away individual freedoms in the name of “safety”, and create dependence on the government.

It’s all about power and money. Everything is. There is no utopia. There is no perfect society. Our country is the greatest ever created, and we need to keep it that way.

Did anyone think this would happen? They all should be punished regardless of the political party.

Did anyone think this would happen? They all should be punished regardless of the political party. Let’s also not forget that the original Covid stimulus bills that got rejected also included about $50,000 raises for the members of the House.

That was fake news.

I can’t think of one thing the government has taken away that it’s ever given back. Govt doesn’t give back rights. It only takes them. Yes. It’s not if the US collapses... It’s only a matter of when. The death spiral is in place and picking up momentum

I will say this for Trump. He did exactly the things he said he would do. The only exception is the wall and he has tried every truck he has to get that done. Each person can decide for themselves if those things were right, wrong, or otherwise. But regardless of what people think of him or his ways, he did exactly what he said he would do.

This has been debunked multiple times on here. I'm copy pasting from this thread: https://forums.sixpackspeak.com/sho...ould-make-everyone-mad&highlight=raises+house

All the fact-check link states is that the house and senate allocated the same amount for the house in each bill, and that legislator salaries are funded through the treasury, not appropriations. Not sure we read the same article, also maybe chill a little.

Language in the house bill:
“For an additional amount for “Salaries and Expenses”, $25,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2021, except that $5,000,000 shall remain available until expended, for necessary expenses of the House of Representatives to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus, to be allocated in accordance with a spend plan submitted to the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives by the Chief Administrative Officer and approved by such Committee: Provided, That such amount is designated by the Congress as being for an emergency requirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.“

Language from the senate bill:
“ HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
2 SALARIES AND EXPENSES
3 For an additional amount for ‘‘Salaries and Ex-
4 penses’’, $25,000,000, to remain available until September
5 30, 2021, except that $5,000,000 shall remain available
6 until expended, to prevent, prepare for, and respond to
7 coronavirus, domestically or internationally, to be allo-
8 cated in accordance with a spend plan submitted to the
9 Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representa-
10 tives by the Chief Administrative Officer and approved by
11 such Committee: Provided, That such amount is des-
12 ignated by the Congress as being for an emergency re-
13 quirement pursuant to section 251(b)(2)(A)(i) of the Bal-
14 anced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985.”

A breakdown of what it’s used for from the senate appropriations committee report.

“ U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES – $25 MILLION
SALARIES AND EXPENSES – $25 MILLION - Funding supports the House’s capability to telework, including the purchase of equipment and improvements to the network. Funding is also provided to reimburse costs for the staff of the House Child Care Center and House restaurant contracts.”
