Cable news media is the worst.

After watching Cuomo use stats from 2016 and prior to “hammer” the “Trump Economy” this week.... I’ve been thinking about how we need to have a media cohort who gets post game interviews with media and their research teams to ask them how in the world they think I they can pass their last drivel off as news. All cable news is an absolute joke.

Shame on FoxNews. Not that it excuses such a thing, but CNN, and other news sources, do similar things. The days of Douglas Edwards and Walter Cronkite are long gone, unfortunately.

CNN seems to support the takeover of the "autonomous zone". What would happen to any of us if we got a bunch of people and went to the downtown portion of wherever we live and set up tents and such in the streets? We'd be justifiably run off. If these folks have declared themselves a separate nation, maybe they need a passport and visa to come back and join the rest of us.

The south did this once. A war ensued.

Unfortunately “news” now often means “propaganda”.

It’s sad that you have to listen to almost everything through a very skeptical lens

Pictures altered but does this make CHAZ a good thing? This is probably the most reporting anyone has actually done on CHAZ. Biz Insider CEO is a major crook himself. Barred from working in financial industry.

Just a friendly reminder that no matter your views on the current events, there are people out there trying to manipulate the truth and appeal to your emotions. Be discerning. Flame away. Lock it up. etc.

The manipulation of news is unfortunate at best and downright dangerous at worst.
There is no justification for any media to manipulate pictures or video so thst it shows something different.

The USA is gone. Finished. Caput.

It is is no longer the best country in the world.

And it is not because of who is in the White House, as over half the population and the news media would want you to believe.

And lost.....
Exactly. The funny thing is, in the past, 'progressivism' always won. It won't happen this time, because there was a distinctive 'element' that is missing from today's progressivism, and that element was a key part of the progressivism of old.

Anybody care to take a guess at what that was?

All about the money. As true as it's ever been right now. 24hr cable news channels play to the base and sensationalize every shred of information they can get to keep you tuned in and the advertisers happy. Bad news or news that demands an emotional response hooks you and keeps you engaged. So bottom line is some people get very rich from making you angry - be it passive watching their advertising or actively purchasing goods and services in an emotionally driven 'response' to flat out handing over your cash to 'causes' as part of the donation-activism-culture.

I think it’s pretty dumb and is taking attention away from larger issues that people are trying to address.

Please copy and paste what I said in the other thread that implies I’m ok with cops dying.

Simple solution: don’t watch any news. I turned it off about 3 weeks ago. I don’t get worked up near as much.

Right there with you, brother. I scaled back my news consumption considerably many years ago. Used to listen to 'news' radio all the time because I wanted to be 'informed'... turns out all I was getting was an echo chamber of opinions. TV is much the same. Anyone can pick the news they like best... that resonates with their ideology. Eventually, you become so entrenched in opinion news that your unable or unwilling to see through it all. No one's coming to take your guns and no one's out poisoning your drinking water.

Step away from the instruments that drive wedges in our society while draining your pockets in the process.

I would argue that Canada, other than the government-run healthcare for people needing timely surgical procedures, is a desirable place with no political upheaval and no renegades taking over major cities and mass destruction of property, and no extreme racial divide. More competent law enforcement, too.

You're being much too kind to our mainstream media. Their propaganda (both left and right) is very dangerous.

And the sad thing about this is that negative stuff keeps filtering its way to this page too. I try hard to stay away from watching/reading negative media and now I can’t even read this board anymore without it all on here too. I’ll be so glad one day when things get back to some normalcy and we can just fuss about bad/good players/coaches and who knows the most about grass, steak seasoning, who has the best stadium or uniforms, etc.

Do you really believe liberals aren't "coming to take your guns"? If not for organized resistance they would have done so years ago.

Good decision. I stopped about 7 or 8 years ago when we cut the cord- its easier to not watch news when its less convenient to pull it up.
I don't miss that **** one bit.

I still watch 60min, but usually about 5 of every 6 segments because ill skip one every other week or so that's about trump yet again or about our shitshow in the middle east yet again.
I like that program for the human interest interviews, technology/biotech stories, etc.

Being disconnected from watching or listening to news is hardly a handicap. I still find out about everything I imagine is actually important because of the internet, family, etc.
Maybe I find out a day or two later than others...but thats just fine if it means I've filtered out 96% of the **** that isnt important.

Canada is a great country to visit with lax laws, but it's by no means a place I'd like to live. Despite the current (and failing) attempt of the PC lunatic minority to take control of the hearts and minds of people in our country, it's still the most prosperous country in the world by a long shot.

The media is approaching peak Doublethink:

"The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them....To
tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies — all this is indispensably necessary."

They say they want a separate nation, but I bet they wouldn't turn down government subsidies. Can't have your cake and eat it too, so to speak...
