In general, I think if Ginn is drafted at all he will be gone, because any team that picks him is probably going to want assurance beforehand that he will, without question, sign for X amount. With a 5-round draft and a guy fresh off TJ surgery, there is no other way to approach it.

Yeah, that makes sense. You’re right that teams drafting him will have wanted to have productive discussions with his representation. So, I guess it all really comes down to whether or not he’s drafted early. If he makes it through round 3, he’s coming back to MSU and will likely go undrafted.

Got it. This was all an elaborate plan by the Ginns to tank their son’s draft stock out of the first round, because that’s a smart idea that benefits everyone***
He had elbow surgery. Just not TJ surgery. You're going to look dumb here, like all the other idiots who do not know the difference.

It has been a great 2 days for our program

These last two days have been great for our program. It will be impossible to replace a first round middle infield like foscue and Westburg. And I hope Ginn makes the best decision for his career. I hate this last year was cut short for the players and fans.

That said, our program and the talent level continues to grow. There is no better validation of that than MLB draft results. We had 10 first round picks as a program prior to 2010. We've had 8 since 2012. Our baseball program continues to have the upward trajectory. And college baseball continues to have a chance to grow. We are attracting elite prospects and doing our part to lead the charge. It is exciting to watch and we have a few early pick candidates next year too.

There has been a ton of high level baseball talent come through here this decade. And we have some serious talent still hanging around campus too.

There was not a lot of optimism around him coming to school earlier this week either way. So far so good though.

I’m more concerned with Tanner Allen.

Not sure why anyone was optimistic about him coming to school if he is still expected to sign at pick 89. I don't think anyone saw him going any lower than that.

I think most thought he would go a lot higher. Slot value for #89 is $668K. I would be a surprised if he signed for that little. The Sox Bonus Pool of $5.1 million is one of the lowest in the MLB, but they only have 4 picks this year, having lost their right to pick in the second round as punishment for stealing signs in 2018. I expect them to offer him more than slot value. Question is how much more and that will depend on the deals they can make with their other draftees.

Wow! That is a crazy stat. I would have never thought that. I am not surprised that State has put 8 in first round since 2012, as the program has been incredible during that time frame. I'm just really surprised it only had 10 prior to 2010, based on historical success of the program, fan buy-in, etc. It's tough to lose guys that talented, I know, but it certainly gives Lemonis a monster recruiting tool to use.
