Yeah. They've had major culture issues down there for a few years now and he's bringing in a couple of the guys that helped Joe Moorhead ruin the culture of our football program. I'd be a bit concerned if I was an FSU fan.

Say what you want but i'm glad neither of them are in Oxford. Nothing to do with the competition or not wanting to see them on the field, but I dont want to listen to the ******** and let their fans have that feather in their cap

To be fair, those guys were allowed to get away with that here. I don't know how much of a disciplinarian Norvell is, but he's demonstrated that he knows what he's doing with his football programs in the past.

I wish them well. I hope they are successful.

It's just funny they didn't end up at Ole Miss.

I can imagine Leach saying something like, "17 that kid. This isn't your daddy's MSU anymore. 17 him. No mother 17er is jumping ship to the 17n enemy. No 17n way. 17 that guy and 17 Ole Miss!"

Bo Bounds commented at length this morning that he'd be at ole miss today if the same-ole, same-ole group of boosters hadn't gotten involved.

Quite frankly, I’m glad they’re not in Starkville any longer as well. When there’s this much drama involved, rarely does the talent outweigh the issues that they’ll bring

Free Shoes has make quite a living on MS players here lately. Which is really strange. None of this crap makes any real sense anymore.

There are supposedly a couple of big time FSU boosters in the Jackson area.

Probably why they are in on guys like Jones and Akers, who were weirdly between them and booster-centric Ole Miss.

This crap has my college fandom is on really shaky ground right now, due to tribalism going out the window. I mean these players and coaches literally take advantage of our fandom, then get all political on social media with the people who enable them to have this opportunity. Here lately with NIL and other things eroding the last bit of what makes college football great (amateurism) and players essentially becoming free agents.....it's just a sad time.

That whole situation is nuts. I’m looking forward to the 30 for 30 someday.

I guess I have to hate Norvell now.

Tallahassee is the pits! I spent a couple of weeks a few summer ago down there with work.

I don't like it either. I've only cheered for FSU once, and that was against Auburn in 2013. Other than that I don't care for anything regarding that place. It's Southern Miss except in a richer state. Just an old women's school turned into a party school. Which is fine I guess, but nothing to write home about, no soul.

All schools have the potential for "culture issues" these days but I've thought for a while that although there is a TREMENDOUS amount of football of talent in Florida it takes a very special coach to run any of those programs and keep it focused on winning football games. Obviously it's been proven any one of them (UF,FSU and the U) can win a natty with right coach or totally flame out with the wrong one.

We actually had a blast at the regional a couple of years ago. Andrews was a great hang with very reasonable priced drinks. Madison Social had a great brunch and Coosh’s was solid Cajun food with a nice outdoor area. I was there years ago and I wasn’t a fan but this time it was great.

Pretty sure he would actually still be at MSU today if those boosters and a former MSU coach who is now on the OM staff hadn't gotten involved.

It really does make you wonder. I have no way of knowing what truly transpired, but if I had to place a bet, I’d wager that there was a “pack your 17ing bags” moment from Leach somewhere in the timeline. Just another case of a kid thinking that he has the world in his hands, and he was quickly reminded as to how quickly the world can slap you when you go down that path.

FSU is a great consolation prize and I truly do hope he lands on his feet, but my gut tells me that this won’t end well for him.

Also..... I am sure Norvell has lots of MS high school connections through his year at Memphis. He did a good job of locating overlooked MS talent and developing those players at Memphis.

Pretty obvious to me that JJ wasn't actively looking to leave until he came under the influence of those people. Otherwise, if he had been looking to leave, he would have already been in the transfer portal and his interaction with those folks would not have been an issue.

Yep, that came out wrong. I think Jones was definitely out fishing, and I also believe he had full intentions of defecting to Oxford for at least a couple weeks. However, I also think he expected MSU to beg him to stay, and Leach was having none of that. As soon as the pics and social media posts started circulating, he was real quick to get his name in the portal, and my guess is that Leach basically told him... if you don’t do it tonight, I will

Agreed, Tallahassee is pretty awesome. Just the right size, not too big, not too small. The last 5 years development there has been unreal. The Collegetown area and the new Casacades park are really nice.
Not to mention close to the coast.
