I haven't been paying much attention to these riots, but I think it's interesting to think about, if I owned a business that was likely to get looted, how would I choose to defend it.

I think, with some planning and assistance, it could be done effectively, because the vast majority of the rioters are not willing to die for a TV.

Id probably rely on insurance. Would be tempted to sit up top with an AR-15, but would be worried about getting caught up there in a fire. I wish more owners would act like the Asian store owners in the Rodney king riots. Just senseless what the rioters are doing and the ones setting fire and destroying property and looting need to be shot.

If I had the resources (and if possible to rent, because I wouldn’t own any) some bad *** dogs.
I don’t know that I would have the nerve/guts the Koreans had to do it myself. They came from a place that requires military service so they had the training as well(I do not). I can point and shoot but that’s just not the same thing. I would want to defend but after watching those animals attack with larger numbers and fight and leave for dead to honor the Memory of George Floyd (FYI I like most if not all of you believe he was murdered and believe his killer should be brought to justice), just not sure it is worth the risk of my kids not having a dad. So in a world of unlimited resources, I would hire former Israeli military and pray for the souls of the idiots who come for justice at my place of business.

In a weird way some of these businesses may actually benefit from the looting if they were shut down completely or had been receiving reduced income due to Covid-19. Insurance companies in a lot of cases were saying that Covid-19 was not covered under any type of business interruption insurance however now damage to the property and merchandise should be covered. Also business interruption coverage may ironically now be covered. I'm not implying that business owners would want their stores looted but there may be a silver lining. I'm a business owner but fortunately I can work from home.

For so much alleged fear of the police and the system, I’m not seeing much of that during these riots and the lack of decisive action in Minnesota has emboldened this to start happening all over the country. You won’t see a second night of it in Nashville though.
