I was at 612 yesterday afternoon and there was 0 (zero) naught, zilch, nada, social distancing going on across the street at Two Brothers! Including Football players and other athletes.

I liked my old decrepit professors. Had a gem of a history teacher who's name I cannot recall. Taught low level history in Simrall 100. Packed auditorium. Constantly referred to the fact that his day wasn't so bad because he wasn't pushing up daisies yet. Hoyt for Cal III/IV; cadaverous is the best way to describe his look. Bouchillon for ME2503 insisted that you use old tests to pass his class; never changed them at all. Akers, Fields, great guy, vet who was still dragging waveguide into the classroom years after it didn't matter (VSWR and such). If you were a Vet you need not worry about your grade. I was not a Vet, but did fine anyway. There were others, but my memory fails me. Good times!

If you are 25 and younger you have better odds of getting struck by lightning than dying of Covid.

I guess when you ask a girl out, you'll have to insist she be tested (for Covid) first ....

I’ve come to conclusion that we do things as normal or we don’t do it - there isn’t a way to do a lot of this stuff truly “safely” - you can do it “safer” but half the guidelines places are staring seem like legs cover more than something you could actually enforce. I mean what happen if one person in a form test positive?

They released some guidelines for our local red soccer league today and they were just stupid. Like I can keep a group of 8 year old girls for jumping all over each other. If you are even considering letting games happen where kids are falling over each other then you have to basically admit you aren’t going to impose a lot of regulations

Yep. I expect most face-to-face classes to go hybrid which will help out with social distancing. It could be worked out so that classroom use would be down at least 50 percent each day & hybrid classes have a bit more flexibility as far as conversion to online is concerned.

And if all classes go hybrid, then I’d guess that there would primarily be MW & TTh classes with not many MWF classes scheduled & likely concentrated in very few buildings.

And depending on how custodial services is staffed at MSU, I wouldn’t be shocked if in addition to MW classes, there were also WF & MF classes scheduled in enough different buildings.

Which means that those buildings would be closed on designated days for cleaning.

I didn't notice any mention of wearing masks.

SheltonisCHOKING like a MF17er right now.

Why would I?

They are going to Social and Physical distance.

Make everyone wear masks.

Test, Contact Trace, and Isolate.

All the things I have said have to happen to open back up.

Do we want our football players or healthy students social distancing right now? If we are going to let students go to school in the fall, and seeing as how they are at very little risk (so far 1 death and 53 hospitalizations in the 18-30 group, so about .06% case fatality rate, presumably something <.03% infection fatality rate and about 3.4% hospitalization rate of confirmed cases (so probably less than half that of actual cases), is waiting two more months to be exposed going to move the needle on the IFR or hospitalization rate? Or are we just ensuring that if they are symptomatic, they will be missing school rather than whatever they are doing in the summer?

Are you still sticking with no football this fall or are you moving to football with no fans?
