Anyone been to the Bama coast in the last couple weeks? Things beginning to open back up? Looking to possibly go down for a few days in June.

Beaches are packed. I live in Perdido Key and restaurants are opening up, albeit slowly. In FL we can have seating in open dining areas of restaurants and only 25% capacity for indoor dining. I thing AL has 50% indoor dining capacity. Either way, you may be looking at some longer than normal wait times. In FL we technically still can't have condo renters per Governors orders. However, it appears that condo owners may be renting out directly and by-passing the rental companies.

I booked a Perdido condo rental through a third party rental company today. It’s for dates later in May.

We were down last week when the beaches opened. It’s like they flipped a switch. Beaches were pretty full and traffic was pretty heavy, not Memorial Day or July 4th heavy but it was noticeable. 95% of the Tag were Alabama plates so it was mostly locals. Restaurants hadn’t opened when we left but I would suggest carrying most of what you want to eat or plan on carry out.

The Coast is Open

Just got back from Perdido. The condos were open. We stayed at the Caribe. FLORABAMA was opened up, and the restaurants in Florida were serving. We ate outside at the Florabama Yacht Club...good food and company. The Florida restaurants were open, but the Alabama ones were not. However, the word came down that they were opening today but had to get back to work. Everything was pretty functional with a few exceptions...social distancing etc. but boats were parked on top of each other on the island. While they had signs on the island....it was not being enforced as those communities live off tourism.

I live in Gulf Shores. Last two weekends were pretty crowded at public beaches. Mid week, not so much. Easy to find space while observing social distancing. Police and lifeguards are patrolling beach, but I have not seen them break up any groups. Restaurants are beginning to open at 50% capacity. Other retail is also opening. Wal Mart was its usual summer circus this past weekend, but this was when restaurants were still take out only. Weather has been incredible on beach. Traffic has not been bad, except at check in/check out times.

Im in Gulf Shores this week. Looks like the condo parking lots are half full. Decent beach crowd but not crowded. We stopped by a restaurant last night. They were operating under "social distancing". So there was a 1 hour wait. We didn't bother. I'll update later this week.
