OM and Womens' Basketball Recruiting?

[Walter White.sixpack]

In looking at our new coach's recruiting I've seen Robbie posting that MSU has made the Top 5 or Top 6 of various 5star bball players. Nikki seems to be very active on the recruiting trail. That's understandable, right? MSU has been to 2 national championships the past few years and been a Top 10 team for stretch of time.

BUT ... I've seen UMiss be mentioned in some of the top girl's players in the country. Like top 15 girls. And how many SEC games did OM win this past season? Zero! They have won FOUR SEC games the last three years total. Think about that. But now they're in on multiple 5 star McDonald's AA girls all of a sudden?

The coach there was one of Dawns best recruiters.

But don't you have to have something to recruit to? When you recruit at USCe you can say look at the level we compete at. Come here and have a shot at playing for a national title every year.

Now at Ole Miss...Come here and you get to have the absolute **** kicked out of you by 85% of the teams we play. We're almost competitive the last five minutes of the 4th quarter when they have cleaned out their bench.

OM's coach? What years did she coach with Dawn?

Apparently not. She's got lots of playing time to sell. I guess that's good enough.

Thanks, ESPN.

My mistake. I thought she was at USC for stink because Aja Wilson gushed over her anytime she’s could on SEC network like she was there when she played.

Om now has burner phones for women's basketball.

[Cooterpoot]

OM hasn't gotten a single kid we wanted. And don't get too caught up in girls basketball recruiting rankings.

Until they actually sign them it means nothing.

Was talking to someone the other day about this. Seems eerily similar years ago when we started kicking ole miss rears in football after Mullen arrived and they went out and pulled out all stops in recruiting after they hired Freeze. Now years later we’re absolutely killing them in women’s basketball and all of a sudden overnight they have a top five recruiting class and even got the Maryland transfer who is real good to come there. Interesting.

[Misfit]

Their new coach is a major upgrade from what they had before. She had the No. 9 recruiting class in the country last year. Top to bottom, SEC women's basketball has improved significantly over the past few seasons. It's not just us and USCe, which is a good thing.

[patdog]

She's not that big of an upgrade. In fact, Insell's worst season (his first) was better than either of her 2 seasons have been. She had pretty good success at Jacksonville, but there's nothing in her resume to suggest she should be able to bring in this many highly rated recruits.

I guess they figure if they're going to throw women's basketball under the bus when they crank football up again, they might as well get something out of it this time.

When they start playing us within 20 points I may start getting concerned.
