I use a backpack mist blower with Talstar insecticide. I spray along eves and shrubs, trees and grass around my yard. Helps with wasps, ants and gnats as well. Harmful to fish.

Our pest control guy uses one of those and it seems to work. I don't know what he's spraying, but he's pretty well suited up with a respirator when he does it. Last year was the first year, and I don't recall having to fight them off then. Had the first treatment about a week ago for this season.

You can plant lemongrass, basil, citronella, and lavender in pots around your patio. They create the chemical naturally that is in a lot of mosquito dope.

I've used spartan for the last three years, with middling success. There are so cheap and easy to deploy that they are worth a shot.

I use them too but still see an occasional skeeter. I have friends in the Delta that say that they've changed their lives as far as outdoor activities. $20 for a couple of months air bad. I'll keep using them just to be sure.

Good recommendation on Telstar, I actually ordered some for my sprayer last night......I’ll use this along with the eradicator. I have had the eradicators set up for for the least few weeks.

maybe it was the warm weather but the nats and mosquitoes where bad last night......

I tried Spartan last year ... tried to put them out where they were supposed to go, doubled up on them, kept water in them, whole nine yards ... and couldn’t tell any difference at all. It’s weird to me how people either swear by them or say they don’t make any difference at all. Who knows. Since I see the kids playing in the back yard a LOT in our future this summer, I’m going to try out one of the spray services. My usu pest company does it for around $60/mo, w/ a little discount for paying for the whole season upfront.

Spartan seems to work better when you have a bad mosquito problem. If you have a not so bad problem it’s not as good.

LOL when I moved to Madison from the Delta I thought "man it's gonna be good to get away from so many mosquitoes". Crap these damn "city mosquitoes" make the ones I left behind look like house pets. Vicious little bastards.....but just one of many misconceptions I had !

Growing up in the Delta we just learned that 30 minutes before dark you better be heading inside. When I moved to Hernando people complained about mosquitoes and I’m not sure what they’re talking about. There aren’t any that bother me anyway.

Early 80s playing football at Strider Academy. I swear those were from a prehistoric era, they seemingly could bite through shoulder pads. Made the Greenwood/Grenada/Carrollton/Winona metroplex 'skeeters seem trivial. I did not include Itta Bena in said metroplex as their mosquitoes are also in a class of their own.

Spartan has made a world of difference for us in Louisiana. We had a significant population that was held in check. Nothing is going to be 100% besides hydroxychloroquine and the occasion injection of Lysol but I usually save that recipe for football season.

This is exactly what I do, works excellent. Last year I added Pivot growth regulator and I only sprayed twice, don't think I got bit once all summer. Talstar is Bifenthrin, I buy the generic at Tractor Supply for a pretty substantial discount.

I haven't tried nor endorse this but recently saw it and thought it may be worth a try.

-Big bottle blue cheap mouthwash
-3 cups Epsom Salt
-3 cheap stale beers
Mix together until salt dissolves and spray around area where you sit.

(Here's the good part) "Lasts 80 days! I've been using it for 15 years"
Supposedly was given out years ago on on old Paul Harvey radio show. Sounds too good and easy to be true so it probably is..............

I had the same results. Didn’t seem like it made a dent. Talstar is a lot more effective. I also have a fogger that does well on still nights.
