Embarrassing for Tua, I’m sure, but there have been successful QBs with similar scores.

I know it's early. I really like Tua and I think he's a wonderful kid but the more I watch and read it looks like he'll get his shot at the league but he'll be under a magnifying glass more than most(and rightfully so). I hope he's developing a plan in case his pro career is short lived. I understand this could and should be a blanket statement about any prospective NFL player but his case is starting to look particularly tenuous to me.

Im surprised about Hurts. No so much about Tua. During his interviews, he sounded like spelling cat would be an issue.

Didn't Pig Prather score something like a 3 or 4 on the Wonderlic? It seems that would be hard to do.

I don’t think I would take it unless my agent was adamant. It can only hurt you and they always end up public.

Honestly, I don’t think teams put much stock in them anymore.

I understand but what system calls for a 6' tall QB with two broken ankles and a busted hip ?

Funny Wonderlic story. Back in the early 2000's the HR dept for the company I was with decided it would be a good idea to give the Wonderlic to prospective employees . The owner was cool with it but thought it would be a good idea to test existing employees so he would have a reference point as to what the scores actually meant. So all management was asked to take the test. When the test scores became available and were shown and explained to the owner his original quote was (and he was laughing when he said it) "**** we might as well shut this sumbitch down now".

An SPS Wonderlic challenge... where you have to screenshot your results with an SPS tab opened in the background to prove it was yours. Who’s in?

Yeah, that's pretty bad. I always thought that he came across fairly well in interviews, but perhaps he doesn't excel in spatial relations, simple mathematics, and the like.

And yes, it really doesn't speak well for UAT's quarterbacks to be low academically.

Don't know about the Wonderlic, but didn't Tim Tebow score something like 800 on the SAT?

Yes, I like him too. Seems like a really nice person, and there's no doubt he's a great college FB player. I hope he can make it big in the NFL.

You'd have to be trying hard to NOT do well with a score like that. Kinda like making a 16 on the ACT - you can pretty much do that well with just random guessing.

Some people just don’t test well. I have always hated tests, but did generally well with with the subject matter.

That’s a great question that we may not be able to overcome without paying. I’ll look around some today, but my quick search showed that you can’t really just take the test on your own.

One of my best friends growing up and graduated together from high school and State is now a very successful independent business man and I would bet anyone a thousand bucks that on his very best day he could never have broken 15 on the Wonderlic.

I think there are some sample, or practice, tests floating around. Don't know whether they actually represent the actual test.

Embarrassing for the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa since Tua’s former teammate, Jalen Hurts, didn’t much better.

They don’t educate you on the Wonderlic at any university. Most of it is flat out basic **** you learn in kindergarten and grade school.

They did a study where they gave the Wonderlic to groups of working professionals in various industries. The average score for 17ing janitors was a 14.

In life there are exceptions and there are rules. I went to HS with 5 people now in prison and on their best day they never would have broken 15 either.

One, I don’t believe this statement. Two, you seem very angry about everything. Why so mad?

It’s football not rocket science. Some of the dumbest people I’ve ever met were coaches or players. It doesn’t take a genius to play and coach the game. Obviously if you’re smart and talented athletically that’s a bonus. The NFL is only about talent. They don’t care how smart you are or if you may be prone to criminal activity. Every player is disposable and there is a fresh crop of younger and possibly cheaper talent each year.

“It’s not about the X’s and O’s but more about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s.”

The Wonderlic isn't the end all to be all but it does mean they can't take a simple written test and think quickly while doing it.

The question is: Will it affect his ability to play football? That answer could be yes or it could be no. This is your field general, if he is dumb as a brick, we could have a problem. It's much easier to cover for that deficiency in college than the pros. Some can get by a few years here and there but as soon as they lose a step, they done.

I personally would not draft a pocket passer type with as score less that an 18. Less than 15 would cause me to think about not drafting a QB no matter his athletism. Trade that pick if that's what I must do.

Some say that you can score too high to be a good QB. I say that's ********, it's just rare to have a guy that possesses the leadership, required athleticism and be that damn smart.

The two positions that this means the most is the QB and the OLine. The rest, not so much in varying degrees.

Tebow is dyslexic which would kill you on a Wonderlic or SAT. Thus it's not a good indication of IQ. Tebow never struck me as unintelligent, maybe a rube, but not slow. There are myths that dyslexics have higher or lower IQs, but studies have shown that they tend to be normal. I have read up on it a bit because I have a few dyslexics in my family and always worried it might pass on to my kids... Just the ******* gene seemed to stick.
